CUSTOM fiberglass sub box

For Sale: 1 Custom Fiberglass Sub box
Price: $50 + shipping

This box was built for 1 Kicker Solobaric 12" L5

It is made completely out of fiberglass, exluding the mounting ring which is made of 3/4" MDF

It is a sealed enclosure at 1.2 cu. ft. of internal volume

The box fits snugly in the hatch between the right rear wheel arch, and the rear of the car.

As it is now, the box is un finished, meaning it is still covered by fiberglass and looks un-finished. I can have the box carpeted or painted to your spec, but the price will be raised depending on what you want done.

I have worked on and designed/installed many car audio systems, and i currently work full time for a custom home theater design and install company, with 6 years of experience in the sound re-enforcement industry.

I'm interested. Quick question. You say it fits snugly, but is there anyway to secure it to ensure that it won't topple over?

with the way it is designed it will not topple over, how ever, i have had it slide out a couple of times on me.
I was planning on carpeting it, so i when i designed it i was relying on the added thickness of the carpet to hold it in the cubby. Basically held in by friction.

This is the second box i have made like this for my car, and after the first one was carpeted it only came out when i pulled on it.

If you wanted it to be more secure than that, i would suggest that you add a piece of MDF to the bottom that would fit into the storage compatment on the floor of the hatch. Or you coulg place a couple large strips of velcro on the back to secure it to the carpeting on the side of the hatch.

newage- i would be willing to do that. but i have since sold my car. So i do not have anything to make a mold of. I can give you some instructions to do it, or give you some links.

how does it sound in the fiberglass? I've always built my boxes from MDF. I've heard they dont sound very good.

newage- acoustically, fiberglass and MDF is the same, at least to our ears. (as long as the fiberglass is thick enough and does not flex- which this box does not) i was meticulous when i built this, so it would sound the same as MDF.

angel- why do you need to know the cubic inches? Every sub that i know of states the needed internal volume in cubic feet. If you need the volume in cubic inches it should be an easy equation between inches and feet.
