Same color, same look etc. But this new titanic is going to be 2x and a half longer so 2 1/2 larger than the first. The name of the boat is called Titanix. Your opinion? | | | 03-19-2006, 12:59 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | link? | | | 03-19-2006, 01:00 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: çî†ÿ øf åNgëL§, CA Posts: 5,314 | Quote: Originally Posted by Panzer_M link? | i saw it on tv. Its like saying, if a 200 pound guy ran 18 mph, and he then weighed 240, would he still run those 18mph? i was just asking. | | | 03-19-2006, 01:45 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Melbourne, Fl/Athens, AL Posts: 393 | The weights won't really matter. All they need to do is displace a suitable amount of water to make up for the added weight. __________________ -Kenny | | | 03-19-2006, 01:57 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | In WWII they made cargo/transport boats out of concert since the steel was going to warships. It's all about displacement, not weight of material. | | | 03-19-2006, 02:30 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: çî†ÿ øf åNgëL§, CA Posts: 5,314 | so they can make a boat that can weigh 50 million pounds and it will float? | | | 03-19-2006, 02:42 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Tyler, TX Posts: 1,022 | Quote: Originally Posted by 1996Bmw318TI so they can make a boat that can weigh 50 million pounds and it will float? | in a word, yes. The weight of the water it's displacing just has to be greater than the weight of the boat. | | | 03-19-2006, 10:26 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | if I am not mistaken 50,000,000 pounds is 25,000 tons. which is a basic Merchant vessel. The Bismark was 41,700 metric tons. the Yamato was 65,000-ton, over 72,800-tons at full load | | | 03-19-2006, 11:31 AM | #12 | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2005 Posts: 17 | giganto super tankers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ULCC I remember seeing a program on the discovery channel or history channel a long while back that talked about a new titanic, but I also remember looking it up on the net a long while ago only to find that they had decided against building it. | | | 03-27-2006, 12:58 AM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: New Jersey Posts: 363 | Why would you want to build a new Titanic. I mean... what purpose would it hold? Wasn't it run off of coal? What would be the point of building a new one, it seems completely idiotic for them to do that... __________________ RIP Tonka Hitlerietta 08/03/04 - 01/25/05 | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
