Free Sites:

http://www.bimmerspecialist.com/usa/...20VIN%20DECODE
gives description of VIN and 2 sites. One didnt work for me (im behind a firewall) and the other was in german but its still readable.

Also, this site did something as well but i think it gave some pretty general stuff as well. They give a more detailed report for cash but I get a fishy feeling from the site. pay at own risk.

I just bought my second ti.
It's a 97, 5-speed, has the computer, remote lock and cruise, and I think it has an LSD. It also has those plastic rocker moldings like an M3.
VIN # WBACG7324VAS99473.

Thanks.

Raise the rear. Release the parking brake. Put the car in gear (or in park) try to spin one wheel. If it does spin, and the other side spins in the reverse direction, then you have an open diff. If it's very hard to spin or won't spin at all, put the transmission in neutral and spin a wheel again. If you can and both wheels rotate in the SAME direction, then you have an LSD.

Is anyone still decoding or have any site links? I recently bought a 98 328ti 2 days ago and would love a complete vin decode. I took her home and discovered something the owner didn't mention. It's an M-Sport series!

Wow Mallard has been doing this for quite some time! Looks like 3 years now! Round of applause for you sir, it seems you deserve some paypal action for 3 years of detailed VIN Decoding. I'd love to know more about my 328ti and a further decode of the VIN. I'm very interested in knowing the options.

Mallard hasn't posted here since 10-03-2010. Try your local dealer.
