Of course it was was only a two year old car back then but the car might go to auction and get a new life. Sorry for the lose. I remember sitting in my car and apologizing what I had done. A friend of mine was planning his wedding and talking about it everyday. When I got back from the body shop after removing some contents I was pretty upset. My 'friend' said, it's only a car. I told him, it's only a wedding. He dis-invited me to the wedding. Worked out anyway since I had a driving school that weekend. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-31-2007, 02:28 PM | #17 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: Northern Michigan Posts: 867 | Quote: Originally Posted by 1996Bmw318TI So its not just me | she said she didn't want to show pics. How about posting pics now of that M3 you don't own...? that sucks myavusti.....I wrecked my first car beacuse some old lady decided to slam on her brakes to make a turn...I was 2 cars back, the car behind me ran up on the curb. I ran under the car ahead of me and sustained no damage (either of us) until the wrecker yanked me out ripping off the front end off the car... __________________ [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] | | | 01-31-2007, 03:02 PM | #18 | Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: San Francisco, California Posts: 35 | guys, get over yourselves. I've had mine for over 9 years now and I can't imagine how I would feel if something happened to it. So, I'll just give you my opinion at this point. If you love the car and it's that important to you, just have it fixed. It might cost you a bit up front, but what's it worth to you in the long run? The damage is mostly cosmetic from your description. New radiators are not that expensive or difficult to replace. I'd say if you have the money and can live without it for a week or two you should try to save it. I don't know how that would all work with the insurance company, but it really seems like you could get what you needed fixed for less than $7k. I hate to see anyone lose a car they love over such a minor accident. BTW, other than the radiator the parts that are damaged are not ti specific and should be easily obtainable. Good luck and keep us posted. | | | 01-31-2007, 04:29 PM | #20 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: Ireland Posts: 382 | i dont know how it works over there but over here my mate wrote off (thats the term we use when the insurance scraps it) his car.... they payed out the value of the car and offered him the car back for the value of the excess on the policy (200euro).... basically what would cost them to have it scrapped.......... as bullmmand said its weell worth it if it does mean that much..... @bullmand 9 YEARS ? ? ? Like I said, I have another car, and I've made arrangements to ship it out to San Francisco so I can have a car to drive around. I'll post pics of the m3 later. | | | 01-31-2007, 06:58 PM | #23 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Boston, MA Posts: 1,152 | Sorry to hear about your loss with the ti. I know exactly how you feel about being attached to a car. Some people will never understand it. Look around CA and you might find another ti for sale. This way you can still have a bimmer for daily commute and for your job. Good luck and stick around here even though you might not own a ti anymore. I'm thinking about buying something nice for his "birthday" this year since he'll be 10. Maybe some euro angel eyes. Or maybe I'll just get him detailed really well somewhere. I'll keep you up to date. | | | 01-31-2007, 09:43 PM | #26 | Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: San Francisco, California Posts: 35 | | | | 01-31-2007, 10:08 PM | #27 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Halethorpe, MD Posts: 1,028 | Well, then. I wouldn't be too upset about being forced to drive around in that. Avus blue is such a great color. | | | 01-31-2007, 10:11 PM | #28 | Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: San Francisco, California Posts: 35 | the color is what made me fall in love with the ti to begin with. I knew that my next bmw had to be avus. I'm concerned about driving a manual transmission (and the m3) around San Francisco streets. | | | 01-31-2007, 10:23 PM | #29 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | Maybe someone can store it for you cheap till you get it fixed? If I could store a non-running car someplace for even free, I'm not sure if I'd be even able to get around to getting it fixed. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
