What are you calling the antenna base? There is a heavy rubber grommet around the antenna that cracks and falls apart, they are < 5 bucks at the dealer...

Not the grommet, the base of the antenna that fits inside the trunk. I need this:

that's unfortunate. i just sold one that basically looked new on eBay for like $12. maybe you can get lucky if you keep looking.

or all a junk yard and look for either a z3 or 318ti. a yard is bound to have one at some point.

Cheap ones hard to come by, but I just picked up a base and the mast for $35 at Vines. There are other spots that have them too. I'm not sure if giving the links is allowed, so email or pm me and I can tell you where to look.

I'm looking for the exact same thing. Have the mast and gromet but need the base. I'm assuming it is an antenna amplifier?

It's simply known as the antenna base, some folks will call it an amplifier. (It does amplify the signal, but it's called the base.)

p/n: 65218375159.

A quick search of eBay resulted in 2 finds, both at $95+. For that money, I'd go OEM dealer. But Vines does have one listed (call for price). http://www.vinesauto.com/PartsPage.htm

The Vines option has been on the board for a while.

Bavarian recyling has a few, too for about $75. www.bmrparts.com

autobahnparts has some.

After having had two of these poorly-designed OEM antennas break and replaced at almost $100 a pop, the third time it happened I drew the line -- NO MORE! I bought and installed one of these amplified hidden antennas INSIDE the vehicle:

Works great, and at $22-24 you can't beat it. Plugged the body hole where old OEM antenna stuck through. Only issue is shipping: you will wait 4-6 weeks to receive this part from this outfit.

I think I still have one. Send me your zip to jdesigns73@gmail.com to check out shipping. If you can, try to PM me, but email works fine. I'm pretty sure it's in storage. Let me know if you are still interested so I can hunt it down. Thanks.
