Default Had ti I for 3 days now having problems..

I need some help here. I've had my 318ti for about 3 days now its acting up. While driving, the motor cuts out almost likes its out of gas (its has a full tank). Sometimes it runs fine other times it keeps cutting out and it feels like its going to quit. I checked the codes and it came up with a camshaft position sensor fault. I'm going to order this sensor but am not convinced this is all thats wrong.. any ideas?

It could a few things. I would replace the sensor see if that helps and check the codes again if they came back up. Could be an intake problem.

Could it also be a fuel pump on the way out?

Thanks guys! ordering the sensor first thing in the morning along with front brake pads and some hoses (found out the pcv hose is rotten). Probably do the basics in the morning... oil/filter change and trans oil/filter change. Great info on this site! thanks again!

Most of the codes the BMW ecu puts out are pretty good, just don't trust an O2 sensor code, almost any malfunction causes it....

Im getting a Check Engine light and the code for the Camshaft position sensor circuit malfunction but I'm not getting any of the symptoms Jclawson is describing. Any way of checking if the sensor is on its way out and needs to be replaced?
