It's got 60K miles on it, and I was wondering if I was asking for trouble (fuel pump, Inspection II, ect.) I won't really have the extra money right away if I pick it up.... and I'd be making a fair road trip in the near future. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. | | | 07-07-2002, 05:06 PM | #2 | Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Tucson, AZ Posts: 36 | I just bought a 95' ti in Feburary. How much are they asking? What condition is it in? Are you paying cash or car loan? What model is it (Base, Active, Sport, Club Sport)? Post that info and you will probably get more responses. But, by all means, take it to a german auto mechanic and have them do a basic inspection and see what they have to say. As for your road trip, you would not be disappointed if you drove your TI. Good Luck! | | | 07-07-2002, 10:42 PM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Ma, usa Posts: 5 | just 60k? christ, I just bought a 95ti about a month ago with 110k on it. I just replaced everything that i consider general maintenance. spark plugs, changed oil, oil filter, fuel fliter, the belts, air filter. It runs beautiful. Yea try and give us a description of the vehicle. I believe the rocker panels will turn to a faded gray. That is unless you paint them. I'm more partial to the Sports anyway. Nicer seats, M-technic trim and a little better suspension. But I wouldn't expect any major problems. You might need rear shock mounts. Nothing out of the ordinary. | | | 07-08-2002, 03:47 AM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Posts: 3 | Well, its a 95' Ti basic (I think). Automatic tranny (since I haven't had hardly any experience with a stick.... but it's not as much fun)It came with the BMW CD changer, but I can't get the damn thing to open (the eject button doesn't do anything.... is it supposed to light up when it get's power?) I got it for $12K (plus plates, reg, ect) and a 36mo. drivetrain warranty. Sunroof, new tires, tune-up (from Carmax- it will need it's Inspection soon)It's a sweet arse car, but I wish it had a little more punch off the line. But when it comes to actual driving---DAMN! I've been driving an 88' Accord for the past few years and good God! What a difference. Anyway, any info is always a huge help, and I think for the price it was a steal, but please let me know if you think otherwise. Wish me luck!!! | | | 07-08-2002, 05:42 AM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Ma, usa Posts: 5 | well i would suggest joining the 318ti mailing list, don't exactly remember how to get there but its one of the first few results when you search for 318ti on google. I bought my 95ti for 6400 from a private dealer. I dont get a warranty, it had 110k on it. I think you coulda done better for the price, but i don't hold warranties to be a priority because most work i can do myself. can't help you with the cd changer but like i said join the mailing list, those guys are bmw nuts. I had 76k on it when I bought it. I should have tried to negotiate a little bit but I too fell in love. I have had zero mechanical issues. Just little used car things. Nothing major or necessary for an imediate fix. You may want to hold out for the stick shift you won't be sorry. Gives you a little more punch, and it is soooo smooth! Beat them up on the price a bit and buy it you won't be sorry! ------------------ Darren '95 Club Sport | | | 09-16-2002, 01:57 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Decatur IL USA Posts: 105 | Are you guys telling me that '95 318 ti's regularly go for $10,000 or more? I paid $7000 for mine a month ago (112000 mi) but there are a few cosmetic issues. There were a couple others for sale in the same range around Chicago at about the same time. | | | 09-16-2002, 02:18 AM | #9 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Posts: 3 | Well, I thought that 12K was a decent price when I saw it, but then again, I'm not to familar with current values. The Blue Book value I believe was around 13/14K for the 95ti. Also, I got the car for a few more grand---but it has half the milage yours does. | | | 09-17-2002, 03:58 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Prices vary from area to area. I think 7K for a 95 ti is dirt cheap. Did you ever run a carfax report? | | | 09-23-2002, 11:28 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Westchester, NY Posts: 234 | I concur with Steve...that is cheap but then again I stole my ti almost 3 years ago with 37K on the clock I bought it for $13.5 that was $3-4k less than any other car in the same condition at dealers that I saw. I bought mine privately and couldn't be happier and I still have less than 75k on the clock. | | | 10-06-2002, 06:03 PM | #12 | Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Pennsylvania Posts: 35 | I bought my ti for 9,000 with 73k..I thougth that was a decent price and i love it..couldn't buy anythin' better Fred | | | 01-08-2003, 02:13 AM | #13 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: McMurray, PA, USA Posts: 3 | i bought a '97 5spd with 13k on it for $4000.
