Default Gas Door Lock

Is the gas door suppose to lock only when the car is double locked ?? or is it suppose to lock when you single lock the doors ??

Thanks

I'll have to check on my car to be sure, but I assumed when I locked the car with the remote, it was double locking it.

Does anyone know when the double-lock became standard on our cars?

I read in my manual (a long time ago), that locking once with the remote set the alarm and locked the doors, hitting the arm button a second time disabled the shock/window sensors.

I know once my alarm is turned on everything locks up,i've never hit the button twice like Dusten says you can do. Maybee the locking mechanism is broken on the gas tank?

my manual says you have to double lock to lock the gas door, as to double locking with a key i think you turn you key twice to double lock.

My gas tank door doesnt lock until I hit my alarm for the second time.

This is what I have to do, on the remote you know the 3 buttons that go vertical:
1st button just locks the car (but not the gas tank door)
2nd button double locks and then sets the alarm (the alarm will not sound until that button has been pushed, if it isnt it just locks the car)
then the 3rd is the panic button lol where you get chirp chirp chirp chirp (let high pitch crazy noise go balistic) lol

I know its not the best picture, because its small but this is the only thing I could find in a little amount of time because im about to leave to see my boyfriend. This is what is in my car, its in my boyfriends moms e36 convert. I never seen another remote for e36s unless it was aftermarket:

I have a 95 active with the OEM alarm. If I hit the arm button the doors all lock including the gas flap. I never have to hit the button twice. If I lock the car from the driver side door I only have to turn the key once and all doors lock, including the gas flap.

Double locking doesn't imply that you have to lock the door twice. It just means that the door cannot be unlocked unless the double lock mechanism is disengaged. Meaning that you can't jimmy the door or open the door from the inside by pushing the button.

In my ti using the alarm pad to lock the door, or locking the driver side door using the key engages the double lock. I just played with it and checked my bentley manual. Turning the key clockwise locks all doors and sets the double lock mechanism. Turning the key back 45 degrees counterclockwise disengages the alarm(if it was turned on) and disengages the double lock, but keeps the doors locked.

I just checked, all door and gas flap lock with a single push of the large button on the remote. I have the same remote as Tyler, its the factory Alpine/BMW alarm. FYI...if you lose a remote, subaru uses the same system and they sell the remote for a lot less.

Seems like everyone with a 3 button remote has a 95 ti. Maybee they switched it up after 96/97? 3 buttons is just whacked.
