Thanks | | | 01-12-2012, 01:38 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | carefully pry the old strips of molding off your car. the new m-tech trim should come with the clips already attached. if you bought used moldings...then you can probably try to re-use some of your old clips. __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 01-12-2012, 01:57 PM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2011 Location: Kent Posts: 19 | Thanks - its a 2nd hand set from ebay but I've already bought 16 new clips to fit them so just wondered how many Im actually going to need - 16 should be fine though I think | | | 01-12-2012, 09:29 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | I did this a few years ago and I believe I used 13 per side, so 26 total. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 06-19-2012, 09:43 PM | #5 | Member Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: South St. Louis, MO Posts: 60 | Did you have any issues with the install? I have the skinny Ti side strips currently and would love for them to match the front and rear bumpers eventually. I have read around the forum and seen a lot of mixed reviews on any kits that actually work (new or used). Also, if anyone knows of the "just right" kit I need to look for I'd be grateful! | | | 06-20-2012, 03:55 PM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2011 Location: Kent Posts: 19 | No problems at all! Bought some new clips from ebay & used the same holes for the clips that were used by the skinny ones. I cant see what can go wrong really unless you end up with a rotten set of strips (some go rusty on the backs) or you get fobbed off with strips for a coupe or something but the fitting is easy. | | | 06-20-2012, 05:52 PM | #7 | Member Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: South St. Louis, MO Posts: 60 | Quote: Originally Posted by Markos_46 No problems at all! Thanks also btw! | | | 06-20-2012, 06:04 PM | #8 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Quote: Originally Posted by indiejack So is there an authority for the wider strips that us Ti users should go with, bavauto or ??? Compare bavauto's pricing with getbmwparts.com. | | | 06-20-2012, 06:28 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Los Angeles, CA Posts: 1,464 | Quote: Originally Posted by cooljess76 OEM is going to be your best route. Compare bavauto's pricing with getbmwparts.com. | When I bough mine, Tischer (getbmwparts.com) and ECS Tuning (ecstuning.com) had them for approximately the same price (I think it was within a dollar), but since ECS's shipping turned out to be cheaper, I went with ECS. | | | 06-21-2012, 09:05 AM | #10 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2011 Location: Kent Posts: 19 | Mine were 2nd hand OEM & fitted perfectly, only cost me £30 which is about $45 I suppose | | | 06-21-2012, 01:32 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | Here's the M moulding retrofit kit part number 51132267003, if you didn't already have it. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
