Default Prison Sucks...

A day in the life of prison...Sean had a great job as a tier porter, very coveted. You have all the free time you want and a single cell right away.

It pissed a lot of people off because about 100 of them applied for the job and he waltzed right in and they gave it to him...so...Tuesday night he was passing canteen out for the first time.

Wednesday, a couple of CO's come to his cell and accuse him of stealing a watch out of one of the canteen orders. HE DIDN'T DO IT, HE'S NOT A THIEF! And besides unlike a lot of the idiots there, he knows how important a person's property is, he would never take something that wasn't his. AND...he's never worn a watch for as long as I've known him...he's never said anything about wanting a watch...he did write to me and tell me he wanted a clock radio with an alarm so he could get up in time to go to the chow hall...he kept sleeping through the bell and missing breakfast.

Anyway, the cops told him they had him on video trying to get him to confess...there's no video because they would have formally written him up by now...BUT...he got terminated for cause from his job and sent to restricted programming. He's had all of his property taken away, he's not allowed canteen, he has to wear orange pants (to humiliate him), they took away his highly prized single cell and put him in with a cellie...so they have 6 days to file formal charges and if they find him guilty in their kangaroo court, he'll be sent to punitive segregation for a max of 30 days and lose a max of 30 days of earned time. And they've suspended his contact visits...so we get punished too...

No one saw him take anything, but the 2 CO's said he was acting suspiciously...excuse me but he was learning a new job and trying to make sure he didn't make any mistakes...he's pretty anal about doing things right...I am so angry...Eric and I were supposed to go and see him tomorrow and now that's been canceled and I have no idea when I can see him for a contact visit now...they're blaming him because he's new...as if "trusted" people don't steal...this is so pathetic...

He was recommended for the job by a CO who knew him when he was there 6 years ago...he's never had a write up before either.

So they have 3 more business days to file a formal complaint...so we're just waiting and hoping they decide they'll look like idiots, but since the CO's are accusing him, it will be their word against his and who do you think will win the hearing??? Not Sean...

We'll appeal it if he loses but that's not any better...

Holy mother****ing crap. That's a load of bull****. That's really messed up. I hope things go his way. If they do file a complaint, well then I hope karma comes back and sticks it real hard up theirs. Sean does not deserve this.

Don't mean to make this thread more depressing, but me trying to get into a Pre-Trial Intervention class didn't work last week. So now I have been scheduled to go to court this monday. They may either stick me in rehab, or take me prison.

okay where's the watch? If sean did steal it they would have found it in his cell right? It makes no sense, they have no prove against him. I hope sean doesn't get screwed again.

The watch is just a bs story because someone was pissed about seans job 100%

heŽll have to ride it out.. and the 2 who set him up .. well, that all depends on who sean gets "in" with..

only thing I can think of is one of the inmates who wanted the job was friendly with a couple guards or something, wouldn't surprise me one bit seeing as every other branch seems to be corrupt there

They searched his cell and didn't find anything! They told him that didn't matter, that someone could have "extorted" the watch from him...they don't know Sean very well, he knows how to take care if himself and wouldn't put up with being threatened by someone. He's really bummed out, he's just trying to do his time and come home.

He's been keeping to himself, doing his job, watching tv and not hanging out with anyone. That was bothering the other tier porters; they kept asking him to come and hang out and he would just say no. He doesn't know anyone well enough to hang out with them and he doesn't want any problems.

We know the canteen package followed an inmate from another facility who transferred there...the watch could have been taken by any number of people before it even got to Buena Vista. I know Sean's not a thief, he knows how hard it is to have financial support. The only thing inmates have in prison is their property, Sean would not have taken something and put himself in the position of getting into trouble.

Joseph...you know I'm thinking about you...Texas is a harsh place when it comes to the law. I'm going to send you a PM...hopefully this is a misdemeanor and you'll get probation.

Pauly...you are smarter than the CO's. That's the first thing I thought was someone set Sean up because they were pissed that he got that job. A Sgt. that he knew from the last time there got him the job because he knew that Sean would be ok. Sean's going to ask him if he'll testify at his hearing for him. I'm hoping he will.

I hate this depressing crap. Eric was really bummed yesterday when I called him...we were really looking forward to seeing him. From what I can figure out from the rules online, he can have visits from immediate family so I'm going to call in the morning and ask if he can still have a personal visit tomorrow. 1 hour behind glass isn't worth a 5 hour drive...and I really just need a hug right now and I know he needs one too.

Mallard...I know it seems like there's a black cloud following him around...I've called a few resources and they've all just said it's prison and there's not much you can do...

That's very true and normally it wouldn't be a big deal, but a Class II conviction for this will definitely screw up his sentence reconsideration and his chances of getting his sentenced reduced. His chances aren't that great either as it is, but having a good job like would have helped a lot. I don't know why they can't just be like Sean and accept responsibility for what they've done, do their time and leave other people alone.

2 class C misdemeanors, and 1 class B. Though the 2 class C's should've been Felonies, but I was very nice a polite in front of the judge. I've been out on $4,000 bail since July 4th. Last week, I had to waive my right as a trial by jury just so that the judge could give me more time to get into the PTI class. I didn't get accepted. If I don't post back on Monday, expect the worst.

Make sure you take my addy with you Joseph...really I mean it. And read whatever you can on the prison forum link about TX. Those people live it every day and it will help you a lot. It definitely gives people a new perspective on our prison systems...write to me if the worst happens ok? And give that forum information to your parents, it will help them a lot.

We are hoping for the best for you...I'm very sad for all of this to happen. Think positive thoughts and I will do a lot of talking to God!

This may sound harsh and maybe like I'm kicking an ant hill but if you stayed out of trouble you wouldn't get into situations such as this one. I'm sure that Sean is a great guy like you guys say he is. I'm also sure he didn't make sound decisions in his life. What he is going through now are consequences.

Yes, it is a bit harsh. But I'm not trying to come across like an ass. I'm a Tutor in a local school and believe me, that is how you have to talk to people to open their eyes. Expose them to reality as much as possible and their eyes will be wide open.
