This is common practice here. The car is immaculate and we are very pleased with it. Does anyone know if the cars are totally made in Japan under license, or built up from German parts? I am also intrigued that all the labels and abbreviations on the dash and controls are in english. (But the transmission control options are S(port) E(conomy) M(anual) not OAM as described in this forum . | | | 03-31-2005, 12:45 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Garden City, NY/Daytona Beach, FL Posts: 228 | I was under the impression that all of the e36 ti's were made in Germany... I might be mistaken. __________________ --------------------------------------- '97 Hellrot 318ti - Active, 5 speed 17'' BMW Motorsport Wheels ACS-"Style" (E-Bay, haha) Racing Pedals M Frontspoiler (OEM) Alpine CDA 9827 MP3/CD Head Unit Alpine E12 Subwoofer (now stolen) Audiobahn A4002T Amp (also now stolen) Dented driver side fender (provided courtesy of blind 80 year old woman) Keyed passenger door (provided by someone who likes to key red cars) Soon to come (now that I've graduated and have a real job) S52 Engine Swap!!! I will ask the guys who fixed them if they remember working on any Japanese E36 compacts. If I remember correctly, the Japanese fuel consumption gauge is labelled in units like km/liter rather than liters/km. I believe the car also beeps when you put it in reverse. (I know a mechanic who finds that so cool we are adding it to his silent German coupe. ) | | | 03-31-2005, 01:58 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Garden City, NY/Daytona Beach, FL Posts: 228 | Quote: Originally Posted by city i agree with hellrot, bmw's being made anywhere else is just.. weird? | As of late, however, I believe they have started manufacturing BMWs in other places, like Mercedes with their South Africa production facilities. Z3's, X5's, and Z4's were/are made there. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
