I think that you have to hit the gas pedal 5 times in 5 sec or something like that. __________________ K&N Cone Filter with Heat Shield, Racing Dynamics Strut bar, Blisten yellow sport suspension, Clears all around, Angel eyes, Dinan Engine Chip, Infinity BassLink 10" Sub, Lightweight Aluminum Flywheel | | | 12-13-2006, 10:01 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Portland Oregon Posts: 1,363 | I will try that tomorrow, I have no radio!! | | | 12-13-2006, 08:31 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: Northern Michigan Posts: 867 | it'd be cool if we could confirm a method and add it to the KB. 3dge----- you can't find your radio code????? If it's not in your manual binder in the glovebox, you are going to have to go to the dealer. They may need the vin off your radio so pop it out and carry it in. Do it nOW!! jkjk (btw- i drove my ti home from DC (when I bought it) with no radio. Once the wrong code is entered 5 times, you have to reset it. Turn the key one click forward for 20-25mins....then re-enter the right code...voila...I was pissed I didn't call the dealer to find this out before my 8.5 hour trip home.) __________________ [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] | | | 12-13-2006, 08:45 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Charlottesville, VA Posts: 234 | Quote: Originally Posted by 3DGE I will try that tomorrow, I have no radio!! | ??? Turn the key to the 'on' position, but don't start the car. Press the gas pedal down all the way (wide open throttle) and release it all the way five times. I can't emphasize enough to do it smoothly, and quickly (but not "fast"). The Check Engine Light should blink with trouble codes, or 'no more codes'. __________________ | | | 12-13-2006, 09:20 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: Northern Michigan Posts: 867 | cool - I'm on it.... ....ah not working here....what year is your car? i guess i got it to blink the check engine, but no numbers showed up. __________________ [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] | | | 12-13-2006, 09:55 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Berlin, Germany Posts: 258 | That's all it does, is blink the check engine light - it's like morse code, except for check engine lights. Mine is a '95 ti. (google for bmw fault code blink or similar) __________________ | | | 12-13-2006, 10:16 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Cincinnati Posts: 890 | Quote: Originally Posted by marleymon Is there a "gas pedal method' for retrieving engine codes on the obd1 m42? fact or myth? thks- josh | FACT.
