I'll be taking more pics and adding more to the list tomorrow. A preview - cruise control actuator, steering wheel, m3 radiator, coolant expansion tank, seats, hatch, and toolset. | | | 12-05-2009, 09:05 PM | #34 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Pittsburgh, PA Posts: 1,224 | lowered price on tranny to $300 shipped. | | | 12-06-2009, 10:55 PM | #35 | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2009 Location: Pittsburgh, PA Posts: 18 | I might be picking up a 318ti with a worn-out leather interior. Do you still have the car around? Can I pick and pull what I need? I'm not exactly sure when (or if) this all would happen, likely after the holiday. Also, since you know this car so well, what trouble spots should I be looking for? | | | 12-06-2009, 11:29 PM | #36 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2009 Location: mbsc Posts: 570 | pics of this unit please? anyone know if this will retrofit (plug in) to a 1995 car in need of a 3 button remote right now? buying this would actually be cheaper for me instead of maying dealer cost for just one remote, and i need 2 (one for the wifey too) | | | 12-07-2009, 02:21 AM | #37 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Pittsburgh, PA Posts: 1,224 | Quote: Originally Posted by DesktopDave I might be picking up a 318ti with a worn-out leather interior. Also, since you know this car so well, what trouble spots should I be looking for? | I have the car now but plan on having it removed by the holidays. I'll be removing a lot from the car but not everything, so if you know of something you may need, you should let me know. As far as what things to check on the car before buying - look at body panels, see how they match up. If there is some misalignment that tugs at your eye, then that panel has probably been moved/replaced/fixed at some point - could be useful info, especially if the owner has told you it's never been in an accident. Check the windows - window regulators seem to fail at this age in e36s. Make sure they roll up and down freely. Check the engine, look for cracked or worn hoses, seals, etc. Look at the ground where the car is parked (if at the guy's house). If you see stains, potential oil leak. Check out the condition of the half shaft boots. Go for a test drive - is it very rattly over bumps - rear shock mounts and/or bushings tend to go bad too. In general you want to make sure everything works, lights all come on, you can lock unlock from both doors and the hatch, sunroof opens and closes well, no weird noises. Transmisison/clutch shifts well, exhaust isn't leaking stuff. Aside from general problems, you need to pass inspections, verifying that the car can do so or has an inspection sticker that isn't expiring tomorrow should be among your top priorities. There is a copper coil(antenna) inside, and two green wires are attached. The green wires are about 18"- 24" and have a small black plug on them. This plugs into the EWS. If you have it and haven't removed it I would recommend taking extreme care when removing from the ignition(mine kinda just shot apart). | | | 12-08-2009, 07:26 AM | #43 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Pittsburgh, PA Posts: 1,224 | Quote: Originally Posted by rcair3d You wouldn't happen to have the immobilizer antenna still?
