I still have to do a couple more coats of primer and plenty of sanding on the M50 manifold though. __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 01-11-2009, 02:28 PM | #334 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: Toledo, OHIO Posts: 332 | jess i bet you could paint a hole car with a spray can and make it look pro lol. way to much time on your hands hehe keep up the good work __________________ 99 black ti sport | | | 01-29-2009, 01:33 AM | #335 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Been super busy for the past 2 weeks, finally got a day to work on the project. I sprayed the m50 manifold gloss black, now I have to wait 5 days to spray the chrome. I also picked up a set of wheels locally, nothing special, I'll post pics when they're back from the powder coater. Starting the valve cover and fuel rail cover tonight, here's a teaser of the m50 manifold: __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 01-29-2009, 02:21 AM | #336 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | "Stimulus school funds will be hard to cut later" I knew it lol, intake looks good, what kind of rims did you get? | | | 01-29-2009, 02:24 AM | #337 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: norcal - 94590 Posts: 3,186 | Quote: Originally Posted by tiFreak "Stimulus school funds will be hard to cut later" I knew it | Proof that newspapers are still useful in today's world... __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. I'll run them for a while and probably sell them once I find something better. __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 01-29-2009, 07:59 AM | #339 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Fl Posts: 1,353 | Quote: Originally Posted by cooljess76 Been super busy for the past 2 weeks, finally got a day to work on the project. Looks great though! | I don't think it'll be much of an issue since it's generally cool air going into the engine, plus My headers are wrapped which is supposed to reduce the engine bay temp anyway. The black didn't come out perfect, but it'll be alright once the chrome goes on __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 01-29-2009, 08:37 PM | #341 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Fl Posts: 1,353 | Quote: Originally Posted by cooljess76 I don't think it'll be much of an issue since it's generally cool air going into the engine, plus My headers are wrapped which is supposed to reduce the engine bay temp anyway. The air coming in will certainly cool the manifold, but will it cool as much as an unpainted manifold? __________________ SUPPORT 318ti.org! CLICK THE LINK ABOVE! Not enough to make a difference atleast. I mean, it's made of plastic. One could go on all day thinking about which materials "cool faster" and whatnot. In the end, I don't think BMW really cared when they designed the intake manifold out of plastic. All I know is that my intake manifold is going to look sick when it's finished in chrome __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 02-01-2009, 07:13 AM | #343 | Member Join Date: Nov 2008 Location: Ventura County, CA/ Seattle WA Posts: 47 | I think the style 5s will look good. | | | 02-01-2009, 08:17 AM | #344 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | Sorry I havn't been lurking in a long while, new job has me traveling wayy wayyyy more than I expected. So this comment is way after the fact... I work on a lot of race cars in Portland at PIR and wrapping headers as far as I can tell quite often causes any welds that are wrapped to crack. Stainless headers its fine but mild steel seems to be bad mojo... I've done it for people and then replaced enough headers that I go ceramic coating now. Does not seem to cause the cracking and gives the same heat reduction. Plus they can get almost a chrome look, but white does the best at heat reduction. Totally based on my personal sample but I've seen this on about 10 cars... I know they're not polished, but when I tried to stick a magnet to them, it didn't stick. __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 2 (0 members and 2 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
