What kind of tires are you running? I don't know which forums you frequent, but we like it when people write in English. That is spelling and punctuation. Unless English is not your primary language, please make an effort. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-08-2006, 02:44 AM | #3 | Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: VA. beach Posts: 61 | Quote: Originally Posted by 1996 328ti Is this car new to you? And I apologize for my punctuation I didn't realize this was english class. I thought this was about people that enjoy BMW's. | | | 01-08-2006, 02:59 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by bimmer7 1. Are those tires Z rated and what is the temperature like where you live? __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-08-2006, 03:01 AM | #5 | Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: VA. beach Posts: 61 | Right now it's about 38 outside. Don't go back on until March. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-08-2006, 03:15 AM | #7 | Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: VA. beach Posts: 61 | Quote: Originally Posted by 1996 328ti I was told by a Toyo rep that anything below 40F you start to loose traction. Whatever you do, I would not drive that car on snow. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-08-2006, 03:40 AM | #9 | Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: VA. beach Posts: 61 | It never snows in VA so i'm good. That can make a difference sometimes. I think that slightly softer rear suspension that allows the car to "squat" a bit under power helps hold traction. Not that I would suggest intentionally softening suspension just to drag race people with a ti, of course. That's not our strong suit. | | | 01-08-2006, 07:53 AM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: cary, nc Posts: 2,259 | i have tokicko illumina adjustable shocks...i have the front stiffer and the rear on a softer setting, allowing for maximum traction under hard acceleration with my beastly stock motor! hmm yeah! its still cool that the car squats a bit if you tap the gas real fast though! __________________ 1995 318ti Active Pioneer Speakers [] Aluminum Billet door locks [] ACS Pedals/Deadrest [] ACS Shift Knob / E-Brake Handle [] Clear Corners/Tails/Sides [] Sylvania Exterior Lighting [] Custom CAI [] Dinan Engine Chip [] Dinan Transmission Chip [] H&R Race Springs [] Tokico Illumina Shocks [] BMW X-Brace [] Relocated Lighter Mod [] Custom iPod Mod http://www.cardomain.com/id/robcarync | | | 01-08-2006, 05:52 PM | #13 | Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: VA. beach Posts: 61 | Quote: Originally Posted by PENVermillion Do you have very stiff suspension, particularly in the rear? I have Ground Control coilovers (550 pound front & 650 pound rear) with Bilstein struts. She does squat a little, but not much. I will agree with you, drag racing is not our strongest spot. We are way to light in the rear for that! | | | 01-09-2006, 05:54 AM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | If it's not a slushbox, feather the clutch, not the gas. And it looks like you need some wiper fluid. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 01-09-2006, 08:53 AM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Portland, Oregon Posts: 484 | Welcome to the forum.
