Default I need help removing my door sills ASAP!

Im about to repaint my door sills....they are this ugly faded dark grey and I want to repaint them to black. But I dont want to break the tabs that hold them in. Anyone who knows how to do this please respond. I normally would post this on BimmerForums.com But I figure I would get faster results on a site with my actual car model. Thanks!

PS: I heard some sills require tools....I dont know if I can avoid this because I dont have any tools to work with.

I think you are talking about the pieces that cover the edges of the carpet, right? To get those off just push them towards the front of the car.

Getting them back on does require some time so don't worry if it doesn't go on the first time. Keep trying and make sure all the white plastic clips are pointing the same way.

Yeah, I've busted the tabs by pulling too hard. Sliding nice & easy's the way to go. You can do it by hand with a little effort. If you can't get 'em to slide, you'll likely only break one or two mounting tabs (not the clips, but the actual ones on the sill) if you yank it off.

that would probably be an interior trim piece y'all are talking about.

the door sill is the plastic guard as you're stepping out of the car. if that's the case, painting probably isn't the best way to refinish them because they're plastic.

find a product called "forever black," it will turn all trim pieces back to original, glossy black.

^ forever black would work better than painting.

used it on mine, also used a silcone tire spray which works well for a shorter time.
