How wide of wheel can we fit on the ti in the rear? I found some 17" M3 wheels for sale that are staggered 7.5 in front and 8.5 in back, but I don't want to do get them and find out the rear is to wide. I've tried to do some research on the offset of the wheels, but have turned up empty handed. I'm pretty sure I have seen some cars on the forum with the wheels i'm looking at. It's the kind in the pic. | | | 01-06-2006, 07:28 PM | #2 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT! Posts: 3,156 | The factory literature says no-go, but I have 'staggered' M3 wheels on mine with no problems (aside from the huge rear tire (275 wide) rubbing. If you go with a 225/40 front and 245/40 rear, you should be fine. Those wheels shown are for thre E46 arent they? If so, I can't verify they will work properly, as the offset may be different. Make sure you have E36 wheels, or at least verify the offset is the same... | | | 01-07-2006, 01:40 AM | #3 | Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: VA. beach Posts: 61 | you can do it!!!!!! i have e46 staggered on mine. i had to change the rear controle arms and hubs over to a 90 e30 m3. it has the same rear suspension as the ti. it brings the wheel mounts 20mm in on both sides. i have the 18x9's tucked in the rear. the only problem is u have to get a bigger ABS sensor or you will not have ABS. | | | 01-07-2006, 01:59 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Muncie, Indiana Posts: 1,551 | I have 8.5 BBSs with a 42mm offset. | | | 01-07-2006, 02:03 AM | #5 | Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: VA. beach Posts: 61 | but u had to roll the out side of the finders out!!!!! ouch | | | 01-07-2006, 02:04 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Muncie, Indiana Posts: 1,551 | Quote: Originally Posted by bimmer7 but u had to roll the out side of the finders out!!!!! ouch | Ha well that was after I lowered it 2.5'' in the back 3.1" in the front. Adj. Height, Rebound, and Compression. I have half an inch of thread left in the front, and about and quarter of an inch of thread in the rear. Really nice product. | | | 01-09-2006, 03:18 PM | #10 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT! My quarters are rolled- not a big deal at all. Just touch-up the paint and seam seal everything to stop rust. I expect the 265's to fit with no problems... we'll see what happens... | | | 01-09-2006, 03:28 PM | #11 | Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: VA. beach Posts: 61 | Quote: Originally Posted by J!m I don't know how much I would gain with this, as my 275's (on the 8.5 rims) rub the shock body on one side and the inner fender wells on both sides, as well as the quarter lip under hard compression. I didn't like how the rims and tire's stuck out when i first put them on (it looked like a hotwheels car) so Mike at Sports and Imports in Norfolk Va. suggested the swap to me. I did the E30 swap and sence then I havent noticed any rub on the inside or outside. Plus my suspension is like riding a brick down the road. | | | 01-09-2006, 06:49 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Utah Posts: 100 | How much was it for you guys to get your quarters rolled? I'm getting my front end resprayed because the freeway has taken it's toll, and if it isn't to much I might just get that done while it's in the shop. 8.5" wheels on the back of a ti would be beautiful. | | | 01-09-2006, 07:40 PM | #13 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT! It attached to my hub and it has a urithane wheel that flatens the inner lip as it passes back and forth. It didn't even chip my paint. Nice and clean finish. OR you could use a Big Mouther F-in Hammer-haha! | | | 01-09-2006, 10:52 PM | #15 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT! Posts: 3,156 | I did the majority of the roll with the BMFH with no cracking, but when I went back for more, I did some paint damage... For the number of quaters I roll, I couldn't justify the ~$400.00 for a roller. I suppose if there was a bunch of guys who wantd their quaters rolled, I could charge $50-$100 per car and do a bunch at once to offset the cost... Any takers? | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
