Not a very good way to start my April Fools day here in the states. Some dumb sorority chick desides to back into my parked car at 3:30 in the morning. Not a good way to wake me up!!! The ironic thing about this is that she was driving a E46 325Ci! She made a nice crack into the fiber glass (aftermarket E46 M3 front bumber). I try to post pictures of it to see if it can be fixed alittle later. __________________ 1993/1996 325ti Also known as Tina | | | 04-01-2005, 11:54 AM | #2 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | DOH! did she at least hang around so that you could get her insurance info? and did you say dumb or drunk? that sux, but if you got her info, at least you'll get your baby fixed up. hopefully there's no significant damage other than the bumper cover. maybe she'll bake you some cookies or something to make up for it ... __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 04-01-2005, 01:17 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Garden City, NY/Daytona Beach, FL Posts: 228 | Quote: Originally Posted by Drew325ti Not a very good way to start my April Fools day here in the states. I feel your pain, someone keyed mine after a party at my fraternity house, and no one even has anything against me. Still haven't found out who it was, probably never will. Found it out the next morning when I woke up. Waking up to find your parked car damaged is a horrible thing. I can't make up my mind about the e46 m3 bumpers on the ti... I mean the styling cues certainly aren't the same... but I haven't seen enough pics to make up my mind on it. Thinking about getting one, and they're a lot cheaper than OEM M-Tech kits. __________________ --------------------------------------- '97 Hellrot 318ti - Active, 5 speed 17'' BMW Motorsport Wheels ACS-"Style" (E-Bay, haha) Racing Pedals M Frontspoiler (OEM) Alpine CDA 9827 MP3/CD Head Unit Alpine E12 Subwoofer (now stolen) Audiobahn A4002T Amp (also now stolen) Dented driver side fender (provided courtesy of blind 80 year old woman) Keyed passenger door (provided by someone who likes to key red cars) Soon to come (now that I've graduated and have a real job) S52 Engine Swap!!! She hit it right where the bumb shock is.... so I dont know how bad the damage is until I get it off. There is a reason why BMW and other car builders put reverse ligths on their cars! I got the bumper from Bekkers.com. E36 M3 bumper made from polly urathane for just under $300.... So I might go with that. __________________ 1993/1996 325ti Also known as Tina | | | 04-01-2005, 04:07 PM | #5 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | at least she didn't hit it hard enough to pop the airbag! wheeew! fiberglass for the bumpers sounds like a bad idea to me. as you found, too breakable. any pics of the damage? __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 04-01-2005, 06:00 PM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Jacksonville/Tallahassee Posts: 17 | __________________ 1993/1996 325ti Also known as Tina | | | 04-01-2005, 06:37 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Tyler, TX Posts: 1,022 | Damn dude, that sucks. As it turns out, the mother is sending me a check for a replacement bumper. I am going to order it from Bekker Imports in Albany Georgia. I am going with the E36 M3 bumper, there just was something about the E46 one that just did not look right on that car. __________________ 1993/1996 325ti Also known as Tina | | | 04-01-2005, 10:54 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | make sure you get money for paint and install too. | | | 04-01-2005, 11:12 PM | #11 | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Jacksonville/Tallahassee Posts: 17 | I am going to do the paint and work myself. I still have paint left over from when I painted the bumper the first time. __________________ 1993/1996 325ti Also known as Tina | | | 04-01-2005, 11:31 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Garden City, NY/Daytona Beach, FL Posts: 228 | Quote: Originally Posted by Drew325ti Thanks guys.... I don't know if I'd call the e46 one a "bad" choice, it just looks a little out of place on the e36's more angular design, compared to that of the e46. The rounded edges and curves just don't quite match up with our e36s. Because it's definitely a great deal. Also, they don't have the mesh, or slatted grill pictured... are you on your own for that?
