jack up the car so both rear tires are off and spin the wheel if the other wheel spins the same direction then its an lsd

also if you jack one rear wheel off the ground then try and spin it and if it doesnt spin its lsd if it does spin its not.

also the diff will have a tag attached to one of the cover bolts that will say s3.45 or 3.45

if it has an s then its an lsd

yeah i have had that happen on an e30 one. sand it off some and you can usually see it better. i actually used the side of a brick building to sand mine clean lol.

and thank you brendan for fixing that

you should have a jack in the hatch under the carpet....

but if it was a lsd both tires would spin.. just try and do a cookie and if it does it then its lsd if it tried to barely do it most likely not.

lsd will make you slide out if both tires are spinning

but to answer your question exactly..
whatever tire has the least amount of traction/pressure will spin if you dont have an lsd

not necessarily true.

you gotta think you have tools and a spare and a battery on that side as well. these cars are designed to be as evenly weighted as possible.

also would have a factor of if your on a slope or turning at all.
