Default Oil Leak

I am trying to pinpoint an oil leak and need some help. I cleaned the undercarriage and the leak is coming from where the transmission meets the engine. It drips right at that spot and it will also drip onto the cross brace. Any ideas?

Rear main seal if the leak is in that area. I've also found that the oil filter housing that is a frequent leak can leak down the back of the motor and look like it is coming from between the engine and transmission. So doublecheck that area just to be sure.

The rear main is a big labor job, so consider other items like clutch, etc.. if not already done and a manual.

I just purchased a 1998 Ti and it had oil all over the bottom. It was the oil filter carriage gasket. The write up in the FAQ forum was very helpful. I'm not a mechanic, but I was able to get the job done. I just took my time and followed the example within the forum. Good Luck!!

Thanks for all the help. I decided to start with the valve cover gasket, and that took care of it. No more leaks and now a clean driveway.
