any1 know why 1999 ti's have the fastest 0-60 of all ti's built

was going thru my 3 series enthusiasts companion & noticed in the spec section that the 0-60 times of the 1999 ti's are the fastest while the 1998 is the slowest..these specs are directly from BMW as listed ithis book
anyone know why that is on both ends..I mean I know they went from M42 to M44 in 96 but what else happened??

Might be different rear end gearing.

The pollution control gizmos change from year to year.

BMW beefed up all their cars in 99' before the e46. Theres a lot of minor differences between 99 and 98 bmw 3 series ive noticed especially with the electronics.

There were only 540 or so 1999's imported- really think they'd update the electronics for that? The other e36's in 1999 were 323s and M3s right?

There is actually quite a few changes in the electronics of a 1999.

well as I'm sure U guys know a full second or more depending on the yr you compare is HUGE in the car mod world ...people spends 1000's to knock a second off their times...the specs quoted in the book are directly from BMW so their must be some truth to them..1999 also got that wicked cool M 3 spoke steering wheel & all 99's came with sport package standard..worst part for me is my 98 M-sport ti is the slowest of all yrs
I guess it could be gearing though?? any1 know 4 sure
