Ignition now stuck on! Hello, my first post here.... Have found these forums very useful in the past... I bought a DIY alarm from maplin... I`ve been trying to wire it up today... was having some degree of success.. until.. My ignition is stuck in the acc position... I cannot start, or turn off the car... have disconnected the battery for the moment... I thought I might have shorted something so I took all the alarm wires back off but the car will still not start... or turn off. I`m sure the problem is electrical due to my dabb hand at alarm installation! Can anyone suggest a plan of action for me?? tomorrow i`m going to get out there and just make sure connections are all good... AGAIN! I think they are tho! Don`t want to have to pay for someone to come and fix it, I started this alarm thingy.. i`m determined to finish it. Any help wud be gratefully received!! | | | 12-02-2008, 12:36 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Austin Posts: 3,059 | Wait, so you're saying that the key is stuck in the ignition? Have you checked to see if you've put the car in park? If it's in drive, the key will remain stuck until you shift it into park. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. I`ve got it in charge for tonight anyway... may help... who knows! | | | 12-02-2008, 12:39 AM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2008 Location: Norwich, Uk Posts: 5 | my key has come out of the ignition.... the key will go in... and turn to all the positions... but it seems like its stuck in the on position! It sounds like your ignition cylinder... http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthrea...+wont+turn+off This thread my help, but you may need a new cylinder from the dealer... __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. Mostly all wired up now.... locking is all working... apart from the double locking. just a few wires I could not figure where to put them... the window close wire... and i`ve got to change where the hazards are wired up... they dont seem to be flashing... will have to go for the headlight switch instead. Also, the page wire?? how would i use that? we`re in a block of flats so having the page feature working would be handy.. do I have to buy an extra module for that?? anyways... I have the alarm functioning, with the keyless entry.. i`m happy! | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
