  • Pre configured a Pioneer AVIC for the 97
  • Charged the dead battery in the 97 after playing with the AVIC flip screen a bit too much.
  • Pulled and fixed the center vent on the 95
  • Installed an Alpine 9886 I picked up of of eBay, replacing the tape deck that was in the car. Even with the base speakers, the head unit is a nice clarity improvement.

A bit bright in the dark, even at the lowest dim setting. I set it to black out to preserve my night vision.

Getting older sucks in some ways...

Yeah, I have the same issue with my pioneer. I end up driving home in silence after turning the radio off to keep from getting a headache from eyestrain. And quite surprising how much better the aftermarket sounds over the stock HU.

I put a new headunit in my track car late last week

came with a decent Kenwood CD player but I needed something that could play an iPod so I just grabbed the stock radio from my 95 ti

this saturday I went to an autocross with it, I have a few videos of that to upload

today my friend painted the rear bumper to match, no pics of that yet but I'll take some

Had my ti towed to my indie mechanic over the weekend. Coolant bled out after a short trip. Regardless of the source of the leak it's getting a new radiator and plastic water pipes. I caught the problem before the engine overheated. Mileage: 115k.

I had my car serviced yesterday.

I had two new window regulators installed as the passenger side regulator was stuffed, and the drivers side regulator wasn't in the best condition. However they both work well now so I'm pleased!

My temperature gage was always really inconsistent, it turns out that my temperature gage (in the cluster) is having issues! I thought it might have just been the thermostat but nope, my mechanic tested everything there and has traced the problem to the cluster! So that will be coming out sometime soon.

Something else interesting happened too. He gave me a call and asked me if I'd ever done an engine swap for my compact, which I hadn't, and I strongly doubt the previous owners (older retired couple) would have done so. It turns out that my compact has a 318i engine in it, in comparison to a 316i engine. Very strange!

Removed drivers side lower arm due to catastrophic ball joint failure, straightened out drivers wing due to catastrophic ball joint failure, decided I am going to fit polybush front arm rear bushes so left the arm off for now.
Removed more un-necessary bmw parts from inside the car and now it looks like its been jacked up! the stock seats weigh a tonne, and all of the roof lining / electric roof mech / soundproofing / spare wheel e.t.c
Trial fitted my new LICO ( designed by prodrive build by sparco) seats, just need to get my side mounts delivered from http://www.jjcraceandrally.com and i can go up the road and test the 4.4 final drive for acceleration :-)

Accidently filled it up with 87 octane yesterday. After 50-60 miles car is got unhappy. Took all the fun and zip out of it. I refilled with 91 this morning. Hopefully this will bring it back to life.

Replaced the spark plugs- muuuch smoother now. The PO had installed Bosch +4 platinums and when I pulled them, they looked like they had about 100k miles on them! Seriously, the electrode was significantly recessed into the ceramic and the ground prongs were noticeably thinner at the tips than at the base.
