The tires I want for my other car are 1200+ for 4! And I broke my car..... again. Got the CEL on for the 02 circuit, the A/C compressor is bad (and/or the AC idler), or the timing chain guides are gone. Something is leaking coolant, and I think it's the heater core. __________________ No more ti. | | | 01-29-2011, 05:01 AM | #876 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Quote: Originally Posted by tiFreak $1,000 for eight tires? not a bad deal | Actually, I got them for 850 shipped from Discount Tire. They normally cost $120ea, but they gave me a deal since I bought two sets. The cool thing is that they offer free shipping on ebay, so if you place your order over the phone, not only do you get free shipping, but you don't pay tax! I just figured 1000 since I'm gonna have to pay to have them mounted and balanced, but I think I might get them mounted for free if I take them to a local Discount Tire? Anyway, Monday I'm taking my original style 5 bolts and maybe my style 19 bolts in to get gold plated. I don't even know how much that's gonna cost, I hope it's not more than $250. I'm also looking for a set of red BBS caps for my black style 5's, my black BBS caps are going on the style 19's. | | | 01-30-2011, 01:09 AM | #877 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Replaced my front wheel studs. They are 10 years old but where removed and reinstalled not long ago. I didn't like the idea of reinstalling old ones. What a bitch. I think the last shop may have striped a few, not to mention red loctite is tough. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-30-2011, 08:44 PM | #878 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Went for a little ride since it's in the high 60s around here. My car is going thump thump thump. Figure it's just flat spots on the tires. Z rated tires in a cold garage for 3 months. Thumping never went away. Sounds like it's coming from the rear. Sometimes when I brake, I hear a clicking. I'm doubting it has anything to do with replacing my front wheel studs. It did take a lot of pressure to remove them. Since wheel bearings can support a car on two wheels, I'm figuring the bearings are OK. They were replaced not long ago. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-30-2011, 11:03 PM | #879 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Halethorpe, MD Posts: 1,028 | I replaced the thermo-switch for the heated windshield washer jets. I'll find out in the morning if that fixed the problem. | | | 01-31-2011, 12:33 AM | #880 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | I think this will be the last year for the track in my ti. At +241,000 on the odo (but closer to +251,000 on the chassis and motor) I am starting to get concerned. Need to find either a nice swap or a 95 M3. Or a nice ti AND a 95 M3. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-31-2011, 05:55 AM | #881 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2011 Location: Eatonton, GA Posts: 27 | I pulled the moronic toggle switch from the dash, disconnected 20 feet of idiotic wire, replaced the poor little F48 40amp fuse and got the cooling fan working with the double switch again... :-) Take that, previous owner/moron...I would not let you work on my bicycle! | | | 01-31-2011, 06:20 AM | #882 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Quote: Originally Posted by grebmohr I pulled the moronic toggle switch from the dash, disconnected 20 feet of idiotic wire, replaced the poor little F48 40amp fuse and got the cooling fan working with the double switch again... :-) Take that, previous owner/moron...I would not let you work on my bicycle! | hahaha, don't you just love undoing someone else's ghetto rigging. | | | 01-31-2011, 07:31 AM | #883 | Member Join Date: Jan 2011 Location: Oregon Posts: 40 | Intstalled my Depo headlights and installed and wired in a set of Depo fog lamps (the right way). Taped up an old hose to drive with (yeah I know...a new one IS coming), cleaned the throttle body and idle air valve. __________________ Why?
