I figured, how hard could it be until I saw a DIY. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=668742 __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 05-08-2011, 01:20 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | Pain in the ass but feasible. How much of the cable are you replacing? The easiest, and smart way to do it is to remove the fender rather than "fishing" with it. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 05-08-2011, 01:23 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by Bluebimma Pain in the ass but feasible. My fear is doing it wrong and not being able to get my hood open. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 05-08-2011, 01:27 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | Theres no wrong way to install it, everything fits one way and centering the catch is pretty easy. 1 out of 10, its a 4 just because you have to take the fender off, otherwise, still beginner DIY stuff __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 05-08-2011, 01:31 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | I might tackle it tomorrow then. Reading the DIY, it sounds like it might be easier if I take out my seat. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 05-08-2011, 01:32 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | could be, but i wouldnt bother __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 05-08-2011, 05:06 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2010 Location: Potomac Falls VA DMV Posts: 1,794 | Hood pins is the solution Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk __________________ Im guessing im the youngest member on here with a S52 power'ed Ti at 16 years old! | | | 05-08-2011, 05:26 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2010 Location: Riverside ,So-Cal Posts: 725 | Quote: Originally Posted by slow_ti Hood pins is the solution Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk | Nah bro thats ricer stauts ahaha __________________ EURO FRESH | | | 05-08-2011, 05:28 AM | #9 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | It's a fairly easy job. As Tony mentioned, it should be easier if you unbolt the fender, however I wouldn't remove it completely as this would require unsnapping the sideskirt and could result in broken clips and such. If you unbolt the fender up top and in the door jamb, you should be able to pul it outward enough. I'm fairly certain that you'll need to remove the corner light, so be careful not to break those clips. Otherwise, you could try fishing it through, just tape the end of the new cable to the end of the old cable and slowly pull it through. If you feel any resistance, stop and wiggle it back and forth a little to free up any snags. I tried removing the cable from my M3, but it was pinched inside the chassis from the accident. | | | 05-08-2011, 07:22 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Done. I ended up not replacing the cable. When I pulled the latches out I found the cable was moving freely. The part that the cable attaches to inside the car was broken. All I did was replaced that. Reinstalled the latched. All good now. I didn't want to risk not being able to get the cable through. I don't think it really needed to be replaced at this time. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 05-08-2011, 10:10 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2010 Location: Potomac Falls VA DMV Posts: 1,794 | Quote: Originally Posted by Ralliart10 Nah bro thats ricer stauts ahaha | Bahaha.
