Exclamation Hood won't stay shut

My hood will not stay shut. The spring and hook system on the underside of the hood is fine. Everything aligns great, and the car is accident free.

It is like the cable system to "pop the hood" is stuck open. Because the hood latches loosely, as when you pull the release latch and then you have just enough space to get your hand underneigth the hood to lift it open. But it doesn't stay all the way down when closing the hood? Is there a mechanism that is broken?

Problem solved. I found that the two spikes on the bottom of the hood with the springs wrapped around them fit into the two holes that are in front of the radiator- and those two holes hold the locking mechanism for the hood. The hook that you press to open the hood is just the safty latch. The real locking mechanism is in those two holes- mine needed some de-icer and WD40.
