They both have the chips in them, so yes they are programmable.

open/close/panic. Glad I got the pics out. Mine was a 96, so kind of surprised of the 2vs. 3 button setup.

so, my remote broke a few weeks back.
i'm going to need a new one.
the two in the photo are the exact same as mine...which is good.
YET, i have no idea how to program a different remote to my car.
does anyone know if it's easy or difficult?
or, is this something that'll need to be handled at the dealership?

I think it's very doable yourself, you just have to be able to follow precise instructions closely. It is written up here and on bf.c. Go search.
