1997 318ti I bought this car sight unseen off a Facebook page in Sept of 2015. I had it inspected and shipped to me, and my wife was not pleased at all! It had 125k miles on it and was clean, a few blemishes but hey its a 20 year old car. Since then I have - Rebuilt the front and rear suspension with poly bushings, KONI stocks and Vogland lowering springs, and an ECS Tuning front brace. HD front control arms. Redone the cooling system (except the hoses on the back of the block, they're on my list along with the intake vacuum hoses) New painted brake calipers with pads and drilled rotors, and installed wheel lugs because lug bolts suck! Tinted the windows M42 intake box Replaced the exhaust with a Stromung. New DEPO all glass headlights with Lamin-X film, and yellowed the high beams. Blacked out kidneys, fog deletes, and an M grate on the grill 17" M3 wheels with summer tires, the stock M Tech wheels have winter shoes on them now. Bluetooth head unit Future mods include - Removing and filling the rear wiper, never use it Removing and filling the antenna Painting the mirrors blue Replacing the shifter bushings Should something happen to the motor I will likely put in a 6 cylinder With the exception of a couple of items I have done all the work myself. She handles great and is my mostly daily driver, I have a 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee beater-mobile, and a 89 Porsche 944 track biased car too. I really liked the Ti from the first time I saw them back in the 90's and this one popped up for sale (I wasn't even looking to buy a car) I knew I had to have it. I really enjoy working on my cars, it a zen thing for me, and this one has been a blast. For more pictures of the car and the work I've done check out my Instagram, mtgoatboy. |
