Default M50B25 into 318ti Wiring Help

Hi all,

New here and in desperate need of some assistance, hoping and praying I am in the right place!

Brief:
Owned my 2000 E36 318ti Compact for over a year now and I adore the car, it has the M44B19 engine and manual 5 speed box.

Sadly when attempting to go though a flood that wasn’t as deep as anticipated the engine experienced terminal water damage (totally seized).

I didn’t want to get rid of the car so sought after a new engine and thought I may aswell upgrade to a 6 cyl.

Someone very local to me was selling a “beaten up” E36 Compact that had already been converted to an M50B25 straight six so I bought it from him with the plan of swapping the engine/gearbox/exhaust/prop from his compact to mine.

I am 3 days into the swap and all the heavy work is complete.

Now the issue, the electrics and ews.

The ECU now in the car is a Bosch Red Label that came with the M50B25 engine.

I thought the car was EWS2 meaning I would just have to cut a green wire and bridge another couple of wires, upon inspection i can’t see any EWS2 connection so I’m thinking the car is EWS3?

The donor compact car looks like it has an EWS2 connector wired into the loom with cut green wire and others bridged.

RFID Key chip has been swapped so the chip from the key from the 2.5 compact donar car is now in my original key with the original key barrel.

My question is what is the best way to bypass the EWS on my chassis?
I cant even locate the EWS module on my compact, can someone tell me where this is please.

Thanks all,
Harrison

We didn't get this version (E46) of the ti here, so we won't be much help. But 2000 should be EWS3 for sure.

It can be bypassed, but I'm not broadcasting that info. Keep searching and you may find it here or elsewhere.
