G`day from Ozz (Australia).
Im buying a 2003 0r 2002 318ti E46/5 2Lt 3 door hatch ,need some help here please
Both have manual trans and are in good condition .
One has done 106,000 km and the other (2003) 66,000 km
Same price, different part of the country (bit of travelling to test drive one) .
What is the difference in a Sports model and standard (?),is it seats ,colour coded front and rear bars ?
They both seem to have 16inch mags ,traction control etc .
Both have good BMW service history books .
The 2002 model has the passenger side airbag sensor problem that will be replaced (under seat) and the gear knob came off in my hand (bit if urethane fix that )?

I would give some advice but I'm really unfamiliar with the e46ti's. Which ever one you get, you probably wont be disappointed.

If it's not too big of a deal, I'd take it to an Indie BMW Mechanic or BMW Dealer and have a pre-purchase inspection done on it. Find out things like if the radiator's expansion tank has a hairline crack and gushes out fluid when it gets up to temp.........  Also if any of the windows roll up slowly (and makes some god awful noise), usually means the regulator is on the way out (I believe this is a common problem on e46's). __________________

Unfortunately, the US (most of us on here) did not get the E46 ti so it might be hard for us to tell you about the option packages.
If both are the same price and condition, I would go with the newer and lower km one. Is that the one with the sport package? If it is then definitely go for it. BMW sport packages are usually some really nice upgrades. __________________ ~Dave~

I would not glue the shift knob on. They are designed to pop off by pulling hard straight up on them. For a quick fix, wrap the end of the shift lever with electrical tap about an inch or so from the end. Making a bulge in the shaft. Then push the knob back on.
