Swap the springs and put the 14psi spring in there, it's only 1 psi but worth it. By the way they are real fun to change by yourself so you might want someone to help you... If you got the same turbo as me you will need to make a little room for it. Grind the block casting a little and the bottom left motor mount bolt head needs to be cut down a little for perfect fitment. The block grind does not remove any material that is important as you will find when you do it. It's just an area were the casting is very thick and hits the exhaust housing on the turbo. Remember to make sure you get the correct down pipe bolt flange so you don't have to get changed like I did. The OBX manifold comes with the down pipe in the kit, that flange needs to be a standard 4 bolt turbo exhaust flange on that down pipe Also if you figure out how to install the waste gate dump pipe I want pictures since I was unable to get one on mine without firewall fabrication (too lazy to do it). My waste gate dumps right out the waste gate dump toward the back of the transmission....No worries since it doesn't dump much or for too long. 1,500 miles and no exhaust marks or burns anywhere from the dump... I think I'm going to have to go to church tomorrow with the camera mounted inside so I can show you what 14.7psi is like. Remember my car is low compression so yours at the same boost will be a little more powerful. I'm sure you will have problems sleeping a night until your project is completed after you see this video Best, John S Last edited by xxxJohnBoyxxx; 09-20-2009 at 05:05 AM. | | | 09-20-2009, 11:03 PM | #32 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Auburn, WA Posts: 1,814 | this is the turbo manifold im gonna buy and i see a 4 bolt flange for the down pipe. is this the right 1? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-T...Q5fAccessories i already have the 14psi spring on the wastegate and yeah is a PITA. can wait for the video and to be done with this project but i have to wait till i get money every month to buy the parts and stuff so is gonna take a long time, and i cant sleep already just by watching some videos of ur car with the 14psi dash and the first turbo start and missing my srt4 stage 2 __________________ 5/96 318TI Sport BIG TURBO | | | 09-21-2009, 02:43 AM | #33 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Auburn, WA Posts: 1,814 | done installing the turbo timer works great and really easy install __________________ 5/96 318TI Sport BIG TURBO | | | 09-21-2009, 03:14 AM | #34 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | cool, that will come in useful on your NA engine at least if you have someone else drive your car it will screw with them when they turn the key off | | | 09-21-2009, 03:25 AM | #35 | Member Join Date: Sep 2009 Location: Guatemala Posts: 42 | wow , great proyect | | | 09-21-2009, 01:55 PM | #36 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by Jean H.318TI this is the turbo manifold im gonna buy and i see a 4 bolt flange for the down pipe. is this the right 1? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-T...Q5fAccessories i already have the 14psi spring on the wastegate and yeah is a PITA. can wait for the video and to be done with this project but i have to wait till i get money every month to buy the parts and stuff so is gonna take a long time, and i cant sleep already just by watching some videos of ur car with the 14psi dash and the first turbo start and missing my srt4 stage 2 | Just from eyeing that it looks like the smaller flange and that is the same guy I bought my manifold from. I would ask him if that is a standard 4 bolt flange for a .63 exhaust housing before you purchase | | | 09-21-2009, 01:58 PM | #37 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by Jean H.318TI done installing the turbo timer works great and really easy install | Was that a 3 wire install? I did the 5 wire. Maybe I swapped green and purple and thats the problem. IDK If you got it working, I must get mine working | | | 09-21-2009, 04:56 PM | #41 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | [QUOTE=Jean H.318TI;244818] can wait for the videoQUOTE] Sorry, reality took over. I get off probation on the 30th and I just could not do it. If I'm caught on the road for anything other then "business purpose" I'm in deep $hit. If I can't drive to work I loose everything, without money I'm nothing and my family needs me paying bills. I could be hit by a old lady and it's my fault. Break down and I'm busted. I'm keeping it super clean and doing exactly what they told me to do so I can get off probation in 9 days and my class "E" license back in February. I completely stopped racing anyone for the past 4-5 days, I don't know how long I can hold out but it's like AA "one day at a time"... | | | 09-21-2009, 05:49 PM | #42 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Auburn, WA Posts: 1,814 | Don't worry about it just wait until u get ur license back and don't get in any more trouble __________________ 5/96 318TI Sport BIG TURBO | | | 09-21-2009, 08:02 PM | #43 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2007 Location: Rocky Hill, CT Posts: 1,065 | Jean, looks like the parts collecting is progressing nicely I'm excited to see the build start, and jealous too John, I agree, don't push your luck. Screw the car not getting used if you lose your license, the family's always more important, and I'm glad you realized racing on the suspended license was no better than being one of the super tuners blocking off streets __________________ 1995 318TI base. 95 2.5L from 325IS. Believe it or not, I'm actually going custom route & will be getting the 2.5 inch wiht a Magnaflow back box soon!
