I originally bought the car for my wife for her to use in the winter back in October, as her specific was: "drives like an E30 but with working heat and snow tires", so I found a 96 with M-package, we never got the clubsport here in Canada, but instead you can option M-package which includes LSD and bodykit. The car came freshly rebuilt head from someone we know, an extremely loud exhaust and a full stereo system, and surprisingly lack of rust for a Canadian car. Since the purchase I've done mostly maintenance work on the car and make it more reliable and less obnoxious with the exhaust, with all those out of the way, I can finally start to fulfill my addiction on modifying, with 3 other cars that I constantly work on, this one will be very minor compare to them. So far I've bought: - 328i front brakes, all Canadian 318Ti came with solid discs up front. - BC Racing coils Still need: - M3 front bumper (it was missing from PO) - M3 mirrors - 3 spoke steering wheel - wheels? The goal is make this a nice and reliable winter car, and ocassional summer track duty. How it is before the snow fall with minor detailing job done: | | | 01-13-2012, 04:40 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: South Central, MN Posts: 1,065 | Very clean looking hardtop __________________ | | | 01-14-2012, 04:08 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2010 Location: Tulsa, OK Posts: 252 | Looks great! __________________ 1996 318ti base: m44, 5 spd, lsd - 18x8 bremmer kraft wheels w/sumitumo tires 225/40R18 & bmw locking lug studs, 10mm spacers in rear, halo headlights, cold air intake, koni str.t struts and shocks w/mounts, h&r sport springs, serp belts, control arm & tie rod kits, front sway bar links, JVC kd-x50bt headunit w/ipod hook up in the glove box, alpine sps-500(front and rear), jl audio 10" powerwedge max, jl audio 250.1 amp, motor mounts, fuel filter, passenger side window motor, drivers lower window run, muffler hanger kit, various interior bulbs, left door striker/ajar switch, lower hood latches, changed from gray vinal to black leather shift and parking brake boots, m3 weighted shift knob, ngk-r spark plugs, magnecor spark plug wires(blue),new cabin micro-filters,new headliner & a-pillar mouldings, 5w20 synth-blend oil and filter, BG Ultra Guard syn. rear end fluid & ls additive, BG Syncro Shift II syn. manual trans fluids, stainless steel braided brake lines and dot 4 fluid, extra brake light mod, new p/s reservoir and rubber hoses need to do - fix door panels, paint job, MORE MONEY!! | | | 01-14-2012, 04:23 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | Nice looking ti. The E30 is my wife's summer car, we originally bought it for track, but it turns out the car is a rare gem and my wife doesn't want to put it through the abuse, its an 91 slicktop 318i, drivetrain is fairly stock other than typical mod, might get the JB racing flywheel this Spring for it thou. Its sitting on H&R Race springs with Bilstein combo, 15x8 wheels with 205/50/15. The E39 is my euro rice mobile, its a 540 with bunch of mods with a telesto grey from Lambo paint job last year, it's sitting on 19x10/19x11 wheels. then there's my precious baby in the garage, its a Volvo 740SE that my dad bought it new back in 91, I used to do lot of bracket drag racing with it, I havn't driven it in about 3 years and its getting bunch of things done this winter so I can drive it again this summer. Its a giant box on wheels. | | | 01-14-2012, 05:08 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2009 Location: nj Posts: 1,099 | love that 540 .. __________________ 318ti MZK2 | | | 01-14-2012, 05:32 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | Love all the cars, that lambo paint is amazing. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 01-14-2012, 11:22 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | I've got 18"s on my ti, I'd recommend lowering it if you get them, they look better without a large fender gap. I wouldn't recommend them if you're planning on racing it occasionally though though, they are pretty heavy that Volvo is sweet, I'd love to take one like that and turn it into a sleeper was that generation still RWD? | | | 01-15-2012, 02:12 AM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | I have a set of sport 16s with 205/55 winter tires that i could sell you. The Volvo is still rwd with solid axle and all, it has a getrag 265 tranny from an E28. Quote: Originally Posted by Bluebimma I have a set of sport 16s with 205/55 winter tires that i could sell you. I have a few sets in the house and very curious how "donk" it would look on a Ti. | | | 01-16-2012, 04:40 PM | #15 | Moderator Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland Posts: 3,220 | looking good, I know that E39 from bf.c | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
