Post Downing Atlanta on M44

Thinking about putting a DASC on my 97 318TI with the M44 engine. The engine has 116 K miles on it. Do you think it's a bad idea, and has to many miles? Thoughts, solutions, opinions recommended.

Many people have installed a DASC. 116K is nothing.
Can you even buy a kit anymore?

Yes, you can, from Downing Atlanta. So in your opinion, would you say it is a go to get a supercharger? Any recommendations on extra parts to get for the car with that SC on?

Can anyone tell me all the parts I would need for the DASC setup besides the actual kit? Pretty sure everything on my car is stock. Thanks

I'm pretty sure everything comes in a new kit as it's designed to be plug and play. there are a lot of stuff you can play with after that.
I spoke with Jim at DASC , he priced a couple weeks ago at 3850$ .

but I found a used 318i with a supercharger installed and bought it. lucked out at 2 grand! just need to rip it out and put it in mine ;-)

Default dasc

hello----the cost/benefit becomes a real consideration, but if you are thinking of additional enhancement to the dasc, check out www.techniquetuning.com nick is the guru there and he can assist you with his kits, which are designed specifically for the m44 with dasc. i got the stage 2 upgrade, and it is wonderful. the reliability of the dasc and the tuning upgrade are very good and driveability is excellent---occasionally you may get a bit of idle flutter, but not a concern. you can probably investigate a few other threads on this board to find comments from other folks who have this installed. some have changed the pulley size to generate more boost, and horsepower. mine was recommended and installed by a shop that builds bmw race cars, and they had very positive experience with others they had installed. mine was dynoed with 190 hp at the rear wheels, which equates to about 225-230 at the engine, with 175fp of torque. my car had about 120k miles on it when modified, with 130k now, and running strong.

No, the throttle butterfly actuators will hit. You can bend them to fit a bar however.
