Default Remove cams or Timing chain

I'm in the middle of my M44 teardown and I can't figure out how to remove the timing chain or the cams. I removed the tensioner and I can't find a master link to remove the chain. Any ideas?

Did that, but the cam goes through the gear and there's a flange on the other side preventing removal.

pics so we know what you're talking about.

Did you unbolt the cams already??? I think I unbolted the cams from their retainers, then removed cam gears and slid them back towards the firewall, but I can't remember on the M42.
