Well first off I just bought my first car, which turned out to be a 1995 318Ti. I was wondering which exhaust would give the most bang for my buck. I would like to achieve the most performance possible and I wouldn't mind some in-cabin noise. I just want to get some other senior BMW owners' opinions before I make a final decision. Any input will be appreciated. Thanks. | | | 08-21-2006, 10:59 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Melbourne, Fl/Athens, AL Posts: 393 | An exhaust will do almost nothing on your car. Pretty much the only reason to change it is for the sound. That being said, congrats on the car! __________________ -Kenny | | | 08-22-2006, 01:58 AM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: New England Posts: 16 | Well I would like a better exhaust note than the stock exhaust. But could I get some recommendations on what parts to add to my Ti to get the most out of the 1.8 liter. Thanks. | | | 08-22-2006, 01:59 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: SoCal Posts: 549 | doesnt seem too far... maybe you can make the drive and get something custom done with this piece http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Racin...spagenameZWDVW __________________ 318Ti Sport (Gone, but thanks for your years of service) | M3 E30 | 190E-16V | M Coupe E36/8 | | | 08-22-2006, 03:08 AM | #5 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | Sounds like you need to buy a DASC,no parts that you add will give you a good hp gain. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 08-22-2006, 08:49 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Halethorpe, MD Posts: 1,028 | The options that most people go for in the exhaust department seem to be Supersprint and Stromung. They are fairly expensive, but sound very nice. That's also about all they do. As for other performance mods, the options are fairly limited. The usual route is "upgraded" parts. Magnecor wires, fancy spark plugs(I recommend you stay stock here), various intakes(again, stay stock just change the filter regularly), a chip for the computer, sythetic fluids. That's really about it until you start talking about new cams, custom head work, etc. At that point take Tyler's advice and go with the DASC. Welcome and enjoy your car. | | | 08-22-2006, 09:09 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2005 Location: Boston MA Posts: 221 | Congratulations on your purchase. Welcome to the forum.
