just hit it.
seriously...
I was at the auto parts store, about to buy a new bulb for my left tail light. I took the backing off and started to take the bulb out, but forgot which one was out, so I turned the lights on. all the bulbs worked, so I jiggled it and one went out. jiggled it again, and it came back on. So I just put it back together and left it.
Now, if its not working, I just hit it and it comes on. this should worry me on bumpy roads, but i really dont care.
yours may not be the same situation, but I was glad to see that I wasnt the only one with driver's side tail light problems. on mine, I think its a wiring problem.
oh yeah, mine is the same thing as yours, where its just the driving light that doesnt work.
like the person above me said, it could be a fuse or something too
good luck
chris

Hmm, that reminds me of something - you said it was a rear taillight.

There should be a thread about fraying wiring around the hatch area. You may want to check that out.
