My hood does not close 100% because I need to replace the closing mechanism.
my solution for saving some $$ on labor and parts: HOOD PINS!

i personally wouldn't do hood pins, i'd find it annoying every time i wanted to check the oil level and such. __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles

Id go against hood pins. Id save that strictly for hot rods and nascar lol __________________

Those little pegs sticking through the front two corners of the hood. Either fastened with lynch pins or cotter type pins... Ive never seen em on a bmw though. __________________

What do you think??? | How much does a closing mechanism cost? How much effort would be required to fit the car for hood pins? I think buying a new mechanism would win here just on effort saved, not even taking into consideration how bad the hood pins would look on the car. __________________

Installing the pins would be fine. We drilled some holes, put the chrome inserts on the hood, and that was easy. The tricky part is mounting the hood pin mounts in the right spot. This was on a 73 Chevy, so it was a little easier also. __________________
