Default oem steering wheel emblem

whats up everybody. I need the oem steering wheel emblem but cant find anyone who carries it. All i find is the 3M tape backing. I need the one with the prongs that snaps in place.

I think they are made to tear open with the airbag...so once they are fudged up...you are s.o.l. unless you replace the whole airbag...someone tell me if I'm wrong.....I fudged up mine and replaced it for now with what I think you are referring to- a wheel sticker....

ebay has what...? an emblem that goes in the airbag?

...I dented mine...I thought I could replace it...but I just ended up destroying it....the tabs on the corners just tore....

SOOOooo- are they replaceable? Or do we agree you have to replace the whole airbag to renew...?

TIA- josh

yeah i think your right marleymon. how did you put the 3M one on? I tried to put it on but it keeps falling off because the original is not on for the 3m to ahere to it.

mine did the same thing....also- the wheel sticker I got from the dealer is a tad bit smaller....but...
I finally used some type of 3m black adhesive- It comes in the double tube press...that we had at the body shop.
It's on for good... I just hope it doesn't kill me in a wreck.....
(although I'm not Even 100% positive I have a working airbag....95 m42...?.... what's the orange plug for on the d-side fender near the air box?)....

steering wheel badge...
ok- agreed... once it's messed up...it's done.

Thumbs down yes definitely fudged up

i tried taking mine off when i replaced all the factory emblems with black and white ones (sorry to all you bmw naturalists but it looks pretty sweet) i thought it was attached by some sort of snap or something detachable but after breaking it i found out it is riveted to the cloth that covers the airbag so that when the airbag deploys the emblem doesn't fly into your face and take out your eye. they really should tell you that the 3m decal is supposed to go on top of the old one. anyway, i'm now praying that the jagged metal that i left behind inside the steering wheel as well as the 2 inch disc of death now 3m'ed to my steering wheel don't kill me if i ever get in an accident.
