Default Out with the old, In with the new

Hey guys,

I just bought almond's 65k mile California edition car 2 weeks ago (thanks for the great car Alan!). Two days later I sold my '95 ti which took me to college. As I write this, I'm in the process of moving from LA to Dallas to work on a startup in a business accelerator program. It's been a whirlwind these last couple weeks to say the least.

Anyways, this new car is awesome. It was kept in spectacular shape and has some tasteful suspension mods. All it needed was a thermostat and some detailing on the hood from chemical stains. A couple other odds and ends sorted out, and I started my road trip today. Besides some crazy wind noise and buffeting from the California top, this car seems great. Cruise control is really nice to have on a super boring road. Hifi stereo system sounds great and I was getting 30 mpg even with my roof racks installed.

I'm happy to say I'm part of the California top club now.

Yeah Matt, I do like that Blue. Maybe smoke the clear corners. How did the rest of the ride go today? Look up the thread on the cable tension, see if that is what you were experiencing.

The rack looks good and the homemade fairing looks like it would work. I wonder if it added to the buffeting, try it without it at speed.

Thanks guys! Rich, the rest of the drive went fine. I guess the noise doesn't bother me that much, I just want to make sure it's not bad for the top!

Ya, the Cali is not as quiet as the hardtop/sunroof models. Check out the items we discussed tho...

Definitely, thanks for talking to me about it yesterday btw. I've been studying some of the information in this thread: http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=20927 and I found a blown up photo of all the parts in the top.

Made it to Dallas safe and sound on Wednesday. The car averaged 32 mpg on the entire trip (about 1400 miles or so). Gave it a wash yesterday, it won't be easy getting all of these dead bugs off the front!
