Default Door stuck. Help!!!

My door won't open from inside and out. I brought it to a mechanic friend and asked him to get it open. He broke off the outside door handle in the process and still couldn't get it open. I bought all parts for the lock and am now waiting for them to arive. Any thoughts as to how I would go about releasing the door lock mechanism to replace it?

you need to remove the door card to get access to the lock which looks tricky with the door locked shut. There's a 'how to' on e36coupe which may help, although its written for a 525 it gives an idea on what needs to be done.

http://www.e36coupe.com/ click 'technical' on left side of home page & see 'how to unlock a deadbolted door'

good luck!
