Default secondhand parts?

when I owned a volkswagon, there was a site called recycledrabbit.com to obtain used parts for dirt cheap. Is there a similar site for BMW's? For instance, my glovebox handle is broken, and the estimate to repair at the dealer and mechanic are both 65 buckas! I refuse to spend that much on a piece of plastic

If you haven't found this true BMW gem website, here it is. www.realoem.com. It's parts diagrams for the entire car. I take the part number I want, then plug it into www.pelicanparts.com. www.autohausaz.com has pretty good prices too. But both of these are for new parts.

For example, I assume you're looking for part #12 in this diagram. A non-locking glove box handle (funny enough, mine is broken too). http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...61&hg=51&fg=30

Searching that part number (51168146466) in PelicanParts.com, brings it up at $10.60 for a new one.

Now for used stuff, I like www.car-part.com. This site is great if you need bigger, more substantial stuff, like brake calipers, transmissions, springs, etc. It's not BMW specific, but the network is giant. It's pretty hard to track down small & odd parts, but I guess you could call each individual salvage yard.

I've talked to these guys several times, but never actually bought anything from them. They do what you're talking about.

And it takes all of 2 minutes to put the new handle on. If you are going to go to a mechanic to replace a plastic handle expect them to charge you for atleast 1/2 an hour.

I repaired my glovebox handle for about $0.01 in plastic and a dab of glue. It was only held on by one side, took it apart, then got to work. It's held up since.
