Update: Yetserday I took off from a stop sign a little roudy to clean up some carbon buildup. Shifted at between 5-6000rpm and then went into second up to there again and then shifted into fourth since I have the beautiful early transmission problem. Anyways when I came to a rest at the stop sign I started blowing some wicked white smoke. I thought I magically blew my headgasket=( It was running fine but just smoking heavily. Took off slowly when the light turned green and it started sputtering for a few seconds and then went fine and the smoke was getting less and less. Then all of a sudden it stopped smoking and ran great. Got home, took it out of gear, and opened the hood. Nothing bad looking under there. Go to the exhaust, zero smoke and it doesn't smell sweet. Revved it a bunch to try to prompt it to smoke and not a damn thing....I am going to do a compression test today or tomorrow to make sure it isn't a headgasket. The PO told me he replaced the head about 20,000 miles before I got the car. I was thinking intake manifold gasket and that the coolant got sucked past it doing the hard pull.
But also in this inspection I found a cracked hose off of my intake boot and want to replace it. I can't find a diagram to save my life to figure out the part number. I stole this picture and hope it is okay if I use it. Mine was fixed up by someone exactly the same as this picture states=/

It's likely this hose. #12.

I'll order that right away.
I checked my oil to see it a quart high...coolant is where it always is. Maybe I overfilled it the other day when adding some since I leak? I put two quarts in. Going to drain some later and do the compression test. It is getting warm too after driving more rhan 30 miles
Would excess oil cause this? Excess oil could have pushed through the valve seals yesterday and burned creating the smoking, but that would have been bluish

I hope it's not your head. I'm just finishing up a motor swap after probable head/HG damage. I was lucky enough to find a donor M44 and ended up renewing all plastic, rubber and seals before I drop in back in.

Do you think you overfilled the oil? Good luck!

Samco Intake boot is on and I put a hose clamp on the ICV hose to keep it from popping off. My idle is better than ever now. Can't wait for the new hose.

Difference in size between stock intake boot and the Samco boot:

I'm looking for a spare intake manifold and valve cover to paint up and replace these ones with. Missing loads of plastic covers and rubber trim and such but those will come=)
Some pictures from the other day when I was working on her.

Ended up finding nothing wrong to create my smoke problem. Thinking some oil sucked through a valve seal or maybe I pulled coolant from the intake manifold gasket. I'm not sure but she is running fine and hasn't done it anymore.

Edit: I need to hide my ballasts too. Does anyone know a good spot to hide them while making the light plugs still reach?

I've seen people tuck them under the upper crossmember just forward of the radiator or if you really want to hide them, you can tuck them inside of the front bumper carrier.

Lookin good man, keep it up!

That would be a Kamotors Intake Sounds nice and throaty, and I believe it either didn't effect power or it added a horse or two. It's a cloth filter inside of a carbon fiber canister.

Thank you
Did this today

Midnight Tuning 93 Octane chip. Sooooooooo worth it. Woke the m42 right up.
Shipped almost immediately and arrived roughly a week later from Canada. Customer service was amazing. Top notch guy Barrie is.
I haven't gotten to really dig yet but she runs a lot smoother and accelerates just that much quicker. Would have did a beat run but on a 6k hard 3rd gear pull she smoked for a second so I let off. Lol excess oil must be leaking past my valve seals on hard accel. Need to not do that until I get this sorted out. Lol

I cannot wait for my steering wheel to finally arrive. It's been preordered since the end of June=D Also, would it be a good idea to move this all to the lounge? I noticed that's where most guys have their build threads.

Edit: Also looking for a new shift boot and hand brake boot. Anyone here who makes them? I want something simple and clean, but elegant. Like diamond stitched suede? That'd look classy.
