They were working perfectly fine, been doing some work on the car, but nothing electrical really. Did a few searches and found it could be the module behind the glove box is bad. I replaced all the fuses (yes all 46 lol) as the car was old and new fuses are cheap so why not. Still no luck. I was able to get them to roll-up by inserting key in driver side door and holding to lock position, so I am thinking must be a relay somewhere? Any thoughts? Again, both windows worked well and smooth up until recently. Thanks! | | | 12-01-2021, 05:29 PM | #2 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2021 Location: Catskill Mountains, NY Posts: 10 | bump for more thoughts? | | | 12-03-2021, 10:15 PM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2017 Location: Vancouver WA Posts: 7 | Check the switch in the center console The switch that is near the shifter that is used to operate the windows can go bad. | | | 12-04-2021, 12:03 AM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2021 Location: Catskill Mountains, NY Posts: 10 | I thought so too. But both going out at the same time? I check and niether side is getting power. Has to be further back in the circuit. Is there a relay somewhere? | | | 12-04-2021, 12:08 AM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2017 Location: Vancouver WA Posts: 7 | I don't know. Seems like if you were able to get the window to go up with your key that any relay would be working. I would get a new switch and try that. | | | 12-04-2021, 12:29 AM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2021 Location: Catskill Mountains, NY Posts: 10 | I checked the voltage coming into the switches with a voltmeter and there is nothing. It seems the relay from the door lock is on a different relay from the window switches. The sunroof also stopped working at the exactly the same time as the window switches. I’ll Try a new switch, but seems unlikely both switches AND sunroof switch go bad at exactly the same time. I need to dig around for the wiring diagram. Add I too did a bit of googling. Many point to the comfort relay. https://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/threa...ir-guide.3665/ __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org Last edited by 1996 328ti; 12-04-2021 at 08:37 PM. | | | 12-05-2021, 01:13 PM | #8 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2021 Location: Catskill Mountains, NY Posts: 10 | Thank you. I need to work on my googling skills as a search a couple time for “comfort relay location”. Looks like it may be the ZKE modeule as mine is 95 and comfort relay were up until 94. The research continues, but 318ri.org helpful as always! | | | 12-07-2021, 04:42 AM | #9 | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2021 Location: Rochester Posts: 6 | Try the body module. That happened to me. I had it done by the repair shop so I’m not personally familiar with it or it’s location. But my symptoms were identical to yours Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk | | | 12-08-2021, 05:22 PM | #12 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2021 Location: Catskill Mountains, NY Posts: 10 | Already researching, thanks for the direction. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
