Default Has anybody...

Cut open their stock muffler and / or an aftermarket muffler to see whats in it? I'd like to know what method is used for sound reduction...do they employ routing / baffling or is it done via fiberglass packing and / or perforated SS?
As much as some of the euro branded cat-back systems cost for these cars, I'd just like to know what exactly is so special about them other than perhaps stainless steel outer construction.
I may be able to offer another solution for a little less coin.
