Default Looking to buy would like some advice?

I am looking to buy a TI!!!!! I am buying my first car on my own and was wondering what kinda tips anyone can give me on what kind of things to look for in a ti. 98 318ti If anyone can let me know if this is a good price and/or what I should expect to pay for this ti, I would really appreciate it. I have read through car point that this year has many engine problems. If anyone else knows of this please let me know what I might be getting myself into. Thanks, Colin

Dont think this year would have any more engine problems than any other m44, but keep this in mind:

a bmw is a great car, but its not the cheapest thing to keep running. It will last a LONG time if you take care of it, and if you are not broke I recommend buying one because they are a good investment.

Don't take my word for it though...

like skunkman said, bmw's are not the cheapest to maintain, but taking care of it will make it last long.

look for a car that has good service records. regular oil changes, and inspections done. Although with Ti's being the cheaper model most are serviced properly. before buying any BMW have the front suspension checked. common problems are power steering hoses leaking, control arm bushings, balljoints, tie rod ends. During a normal used car check on 3 series there is around $1000-1500 worth of repairs need. Some are better kept up than others.

Personally I would think less than $1k repairs on a properly kept 318ti unless you consider tires in there too. Sound advice though- check it out. These are typically not problematic cars.
