So yeah, gas is a little expensive and i have been wondering if it would be okay to put 89 in my Ti, would it effect my milage that much and would it be bad for my engine? | | | 05-24-2008, 02:31 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | 89 should work just fine, it's what BMW recommends so I don't think you'll have a problem | | | 05-24-2008, 03:21 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 2,525 | All of my BMWs have always said premium gas in the manual. Which is considered to be 91.. But yeah, you should be fine with 89.. It will hurt performance a bit as the adaptation will pull a bit of timing from the motor. | | | 05-24-2008, 03:22 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Stamford, CT <-> Boston, MA Posts: 1,393 | So I think I'll downgrade from 93 to 91 octane too.. __________________ BMWCCA #403399 2012 Mini Cooper S Clubman, 6-Speed Loaded 2001 325xi, Winter Package, 5-Speed Traded 1998 318ti, Active, Automatic, TOTAL LOSS R.I.P. 10/20/08 Bilstein Sport Shocks/Struts . What part of PA are you? You don't drive a Green Automatic Active package TI, do you? __________________ 1998 318ti active, 5spd. Black leather with Titansilber metallic paint. Most of the Sunoco gas station it's only like 3 cents difference between the grades. | | | 05-24-2008, 05:54 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | its like 12-20 cents between grades here. in oregon it was always set at 10 cents per grade. and it goes 87, 89, and 91 usually __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 05-24-2008, 08:27 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: Quad Cities, Iowa Posts: 2,110 | Yeah Ive gone over to 89 exclusively now that 91 is over $4 and I dont even want to think about what 93 is at now... __________________ "Drive Fast and Take Chances" | | | 05-24-2008, 09:25 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | Quote: Originally Posted by thesk8nmidget and it goes 87, 89, and 91 usually | in Vermont it's 87, 89 and 93, we're awesome like that, costs $4.099 in most places for 93 though | | | 05-24-2008, 10:26 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: Quad Cities, Iowa Posts: 2,110 | $4.09 for 93? I went to Stop & Shop for gas, which has surprisingly cheap gas, but no 91 87, 89 and 93. __________________ BMWCCA #403399 2012 Mini Cooper S Clubman, 6-Speed Loaded 2001 325xi, Winter Package, 5-Speed Traded 1998 318ti, Active, Automatic, TOTAL LOSS R.I.P. 10/20/08 Bilstein Sport Shocks/Struts . Can those with the 91 rating see that it's the same standard? Though, 91 RON would be ~87 PON/AKI so that doesn't really make sense. Also, if you know where the car was originally sold that might solve the discrepancy. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
