I am all for doing something myself but I have never done headliner before, I didnt want to have to go thru all the trouble and if you do it wrong the first time it ends up costing so much more doing it yourself and stressful. If your headliner is in major need of replacement...I would just pay someone to do it for you. $175 is well worth not having the headache of screwing something up and having to deal with it till you could fix it. __________________ my new world | | | 07-23-2005, 02:53 PM | #33 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | but that doesn't fit in with the male gene's "i MUST fix this!" a headliner wouldn't SEEM hard to fix, but i agree with you, just get someone else to do it (and then if it falls again, they have to fix it ). __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 07-23-2005, 04:14 PM | #34 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Tampa, FL Posts: 677 | exactly, mine has like a 10 year warrenty...so anything that goes wrong they have to replace free of charge. __________________ my new world | | | 07-25-2005, 03:24 AM | #35 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Manassas, VA Posts: 4,129 | That is exactly what just happened to me, only mind fell on the passenger side. My windshield was replaced on Monday, I wonder if the repair shop caused it. So, what is the simple way to fix it? Quote: Originally Posted by Donovan My headliners turning into sun visor. It comes with the 3M adhesive, will let you know how it turns out. Taking it off wasn't too bad, it slides right out the rear hatch. The hard part is getting all the old glue off of the fiberglass head board. I used my hands to roughly get most of it off. Then I actualy hosed it down and used the pumice/soap with a plastic brush in 20 minutes had it all off. I'm waiting for it to dry, cut out the new piece from the fabric that was sent, glue it on to the old headliner board and replace. I noticed the headliner did stick on around the edges to the roof of the car so homefully when I replace it goes back as well. Last time I checked it was only $200. Seems pretty cheap to me unless your time is really worth nothing! I glued the A-pillar covers and that was bad enough. If the kit doesn't include new fabric I'd not even bother. | | | 09-02-2005, 05:07 PM | #42 | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Atlanta Posts: 8 | I have a sagging headliner now...just called three different auto upholstery places...prices were $365, $300, $175. I'm going to the cheap place. As long as it's no longer sitting on my head anymore, I'll be happy. | | | 09-02-2005, 07:43 PM | #43 | Member Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: So California Posts: 36 | dinuguan--keep us updated. It's so not fair. I'm a 98' with Cal-Roof--black headliner, which is cool. I thought all TI didn't have illuminated visor mirrors. -B __________________ '98 ti, open-air roof | | | 09-02-2005, 09:38 PM | #45 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: England, UK Posts: 1,288 | still waiting for schussey's headliner pics..... __________________ 1995 BMW 316i Cosmos Black Mods: Magnex Cat-Back Exhaust Smoked Corner Lights + Repeators M3 17" Wheels De-Baffled Air Box AC HandBrake Handle and Gear Knob DEPO Euro Epsiloids + Predator Chronium Rings Chrome Interior bits IE Poly-Urethane RSFMs Kenwood Power Series Audio Powder Coated e36 325 Front Callipers Sports Seats | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
