Also donor key was different construction than mine 318ti key. | | | 06-25-2009, 01:35 PM | #33 | Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: branford, CT Posts: 89 | hey so i switch everything i with the battery connected should i disconnect everything with the power on then do it again with the power off? | | | 06-25-2009, 06:10 PM | #34 | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: Poland Posts: 26 | When you make any changes in car wiring you should disconnect car battery to prevent shortcut. I swaped my EWS II with battery connected(I forgot) and no problem. To switch key chip you don't have to connect/disconnect any car/key battery. You don't have to do any resets. Switch EWS II, key chip, connect battery(if not connected) an should work, unless you fried EWS II box | | | 04-11-2015, 06:54 AM | #35 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2013 Location: Augusta, GA Posts: 9 | It is almost 2am and I spent most the night after work installing a new harness and a tuned DME with ews delete. Didn't hear the fuel pump but it was turning over. Thanks to you after reading this thread I immediately realized that I had the small power cable on the wrong side of the power block. Ran outside and did a continuity test an sure enough, two different circuits. I started it for the first time tonight. | | | 04-13-2015, 07:54 PM | #36 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2009 Location: SF bay Posts: 183 | NICE! that moment of pure "no.... really? it was!" | | | 05-05-2015, 03:37 AM | #37 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2013 Location: Augusta, GA Posts: 9 | OK, I'm back. I have searched all over and could not find anything useful. The car is running perfect in closed loop but runs bad until it dies in open loop. I decided to buy a scan tool to pull codes so I can save time checking sensors. Plugged the reader into the obd2 port under the dash and...nothing, no communication. Tried several times, checked the caps under the hood, fuses, but nothing. I don't even have a CEL light on when I know it should be. I have a 328 harness and a programmed ms41.0 with ews delete, rear o2 delete(euro 323's run off two o2 sensors in the manifolds like the 328), and air pump delete. When the car was first started it had no o2 sensors plugged in so I should have had a check engine light on. I'm sure I can figure out the running issue, but have no idea why I can't pull codes. It does have the gauge pod out of the doner car and everything works including fuel economy. The obd2 port powers on the scanner and the scanner works on all my other cars. Any Ideas? Am I missing something? | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
