Well, I bought the car for 100 bucks with a blown motor...Sooo. Honestly it's not a big deal. Far more daunting problems at hand anyway. The only reason I noticed it was because I was leaning over to plug in the code scanner to see why the CEL had tripped again.

As for the key, I looked at the valet key, looks like one piece injection molded plastic. I tried prying it in a few places, but it seems rather solid. (I also searched through 13 pages of search results to see if anyone had mentioned how to remove the chip) so, how do I get the chip out without damaging it?

I should also mention that the carfax comes back clean. even thought it's been off roaded, blown up multiple times, repainted a few times (pretty well I might add), had a few motors, a shady owner, the dot....

Changed the battery in the key light, replaced all the wiper blades, and detailed the trim with Mothers back to black.

If the valet key starts the car, it has a chip. Yes, the grey plastic looks like it's one piece, but it will come apart at the seam. You can use a knife or razor blade to unsnap it and expose the chip. The chip will be held in place with a rubberized glue. Just pry it out and stick it in the other key. The grey handled valet key was designed to unlock the doors and start the car. It should not open the glove compartment or hatch. You can modify the valet key to open the glove compartment and hatch by dremeling a groove down both sides of the key face. If you compare it to the master key, you'll see what I'm referring to. In your case, it'll be much easier to just swap the chip. I had to dremel my valet key for my M3 because the previous owner lost the master key and I couldn't access the trunk.

Yup, just needed to know how to get the chip out. Been annoying using the valet key and not being able to open the hatch without unlocking it at the doors first.

Thanks yet again for the help.

Got my new vinyl cutter in, wanted to test it out soooo heres the pic! There are some things i dont like about it, ive already got version 2.0 on the table. But since i had many looks (and two police escorts) on the way to work today, i thought it served its purpose and should be added to the forum.

After i get a couple more decals cut, I'll be glad to cut some up for you guys just let me know.

I took the muffler off my track rat, it runs like crap with no back pressure, so much for that experiment

I apologized to it for driving unnecessarily aggressively.

After browsing wreckedexotics.com a bit, I realized that I had been driving way too aggressively earlier today (was pissed off about my job situation) and had visions of my poor little non-exotic car being wrapped around a tree or barricade. (not to mention what I could have done to other cars if I'd lost control... WTF was I thinking? )

(BTW, if you want to discuss wrecked exotics, please start a new thread)

I just replaced the door handle gaskets... wow, that's easy once you know what to do. :-)

All the necessary info is in this thread. The video was especially helpful.

I'm going to add a couple of thoughts there in a few minutes. If I get bored I might eventually make a DIY article for the Knowledge Base.

EDIT - oops... fixed the link.
