Adrian and I are going to pre-test the car and double check everything before my next appointment. If I run into any issues this time, I will just non-op the car for a while. I am out of funds to do anything else for a while to this car. As for the cats, if Jesse doesn't want them, I will let you know. __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. Passed, but my numbers were close. After chatting with the ref, 2 things come into play here aside from the catalytic converter... 1. tire size. I am currently running 215/45/17's which are a larger diameter then the OEM tire size of a 325i. 2. Final Gear Ratio. I am running a 2.93 LSD from an e30. Both of these reduce my RPM's at all speeds. CA smog tests are done on a dyno and emissions numbers are tested at 15 and 25 mph. Since my engine is running at a lower RPM, it is not generating as much heat to warm the Catalytic converter, which reduces it's efficiency. (The Dyno tests are relatively new to CA smog testing. Previously, the cars were tested stationary any just revved to 2500 RPMs to test.) It is also a bit of a design flaw as far as e36's and other BMW's that the Catalytic converter is pretty far downstream in the exhaust system, which means the exhast gases cool off more prior to reaching the cat, which again causes lower efficiency. But, all in all, things are good now, and I can breathe a sigh of relief. BTW, Chris, send me a PM, let's chat about the OBDII cats... __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion.
